This is my attempt at a space-based Alien Saloon Room Tile for space-themed RPGs. What do you think? Do you incorporate Space themes into D&D? |

Right now, I'm running a Spelljammer-based campaign, so I'd say I do incorporate space themes in my game. I like the Spelljammer setting because it offers all kinds of different possibilities to adventures. One week you're solving a murder mystery in a village on the back of a gigantic space whale, the other you're on a civilized planet whose society is ruled by a council of artists. I like that kind of flexibility. |

If you are following the standard dungeon tile conventions, that means there is barely enough space for one person to stand there. Which is alright if it's just a small tavern. But I usually only use these sorts of tiles when I'm planning to run a combat encounter. And for combat, this area is way too tight. I would suggest making some of the tables into seperate mini tiles of their own, and maybe connecting the doors all the way. Right now the doors are kind of triangular. But if I were to connect other tiles to this (because maybe I want there to be more rooms) then it would be better if there was just a straight floor where the door opening is. Most of the time you don't really want doors on your combat tiles. You kind of want openings, where you can choose to place doors (or not) yourself. This allows for a bit of flexibility. Because maybe the tavern is just a small tavern. But it could also be part of a casino. Maybe this is just one room, and other rooms have to connect to it.
I have not attempted to run a space or sci-fi themed campaign yet myself. I'd like to, in the future. I have played a Mech-Warrior and Star Wars campaign.
