| #1dippyblondeAug 07, 2014 6:03:41 | Okay, going to be using the pregened adventure from the starter set and currently going over the starter rule book with the players to make sure that we all understand the majoirty of the rules before starting when the following discussion got brought up. Will be using 8 HD generic human for an example
If you take a short rest and use it to regen 6 HD worth of HP, are you then considered a 2 HD creature?
Also if you then take a long rest later on and then get back 4 spent HD (so now you have 2 'spent' HD and 6 'unspent' HD). The following day, you can now only use 6 HD of your total 8 HD to regen HP for short rests?
Have i made the mistake of misunderstand the rules for short / long rests?
Any help will be appreciated

| #5dippyblondeAug 07, 2014 14:57:01 | To be honest, I haven't had a too good a look at the spell section of the rules yet as the whole group of us all wanted to read the rules at the same time so didn't know about how HD did or didn't effect things any more.
Thanks for the heads up though. Will be reading the rules properly tonight and the adventure tomorrow proberly. Got a bit of time before I run it though.
Only thing really that ive got left to make sure on for the adventure that I've read so far is that EVERYTHING that is lootable is made noted as one of my players would nick the kitchen sink if he could :D |

Any indications in the set adventure in the starter set if any of the creature equipment is sellable or is it all junk?
If all junk, do the monsters get any modifiers to hit or anything due to their equipement just about to fall apart?
Many thanks |
| #8DM_HEEGZAug 07, 2014 20:26:39 | that is it. there are some weapon racks but most creature gear is junk. |
| #9dippyblondeAug 07, 2014 21:54:46 | Unfortunately that player that i mentioned would be likely to take anything and everything that isn't nailed down ...
.... actually he would take stuff that was nailed down, nails included but then he usually plays horder type characters
Oh well, thank you very much for your help |
| #10NoonAug 09, 2014 19:17:03 | If you take it that part of DM'ing is rolling with/reaching a compromise with the player, then figure out how much silver/gold you'd want players to get per battle (from gear) and then figure a second number for how far you're willing to stretch before you just go 'nope!'
Then figure out roughly the supposed value of monster gear in an encounter and tone it down to a value between the above two numbers. |

Many thanks
