Does the starter set suggest a stat generation method, or do you choose one?

If so, what did you guys do?

Character stats? It comes with pre-gens and doesn't talk about generating stats. That's just in the free Basic PDF.

Fair enough. I meant if you are generating characters from Basic.

To the best of my knowledge, the pre-gens were generated using the standard array, and the Starter Set makes no comment at all on character creation.

It is reasonable to assume that using the standard array to build your own characters would match the best; but the whole point of having the different stat generation methods supported is that none of them will break anything.  So use any method you like, it will be fine.

Has anyone tried the Lost Mines without Pre-gens?  And if so, what were their experiences like?

I am going to be running the Lost Mines... on Thursday and I am going to use the Basic rules for PC gen, but I am going to do it old school and have them roll 4d6 drop the lowest and put them in rolled order for their abilities then create the pc's based on what they have. I will allow rerolls if the stats are too bad but it is will be a complete reroll not just specific stats. Should be fun for us old school players.

If you are running a home game you can use any method you like. The adventurer's league or public organized play sessions must use the standard array or point build methods.
