I’m planning to run Thunderspire Labyrinth with a group of five 5ed characters.  I’ve read through book 1 and I’m about half way through book 2.  I’m not familiar with 4th ed, but it looks like some unique features were present that may work well in 5th ed (i.e. skill challenges).  Would you be able to provide some feedback regarding the following questions?

Monster Stats

1.      Are the monster levels in 4th ed similar to those in 5th?

2.      Are the HP about right for the monster level?  For example regardless of level a Gnoll has about 22 HP?

3.      Is the AC about right for the monster level?

4.      The To Hit is very high compared to 5ed.  Do you have a recommended adjustment?

5.      Is the damage output about right for the NPC level?

Treasure

The treasure seems very abundant compared to 5th ed.  Was this common for 4th ed and I should expect to scale it back a bit?

Traps

The traps will be adjusted based on 5th ed DMG recommendations for To Hit and damage.

Advice would be greatly appreciated regarding the adventure.  Hopefully it will save me some time in adventure creation rather than double checking the effective encounter difficulty with spreadsheets.

Thank you

4E had a huge numbers bloat, with magic items routinely purchased to upgrade characters. 5E is bounded accuracy so you will have to rescale everything. if you have a DMG look at the creating a monster P. 273. use the chart on 274 to check your offensive cr with defensive cr then average it out. the 4 E versions are suped up vs. 5E. i don'yhave any 4E to compare to. 5E will move faster than 4E, so be prepared for that. use generic monster templates and apply class levels. such as gnoll with 2 level of druid, or spy with gnoll race traits
