True Polymorph Body Modifications

I was thinking of other uses for spells that arn't obvious. When considering True Polymorph, couldn't you just polymorph yourself some wings? or gills? or both? Could this be another use of this spell?

That's an interesting question, but I personally wouldn't have a problem with it, though in retrospect, it's like curing a headache with Morphine. Sheer overkill. I'm relatively sure Polymorph Self does this at a lower spell slot.

The skin of a troll isn't what regenerates, it's the entire troll. So, while, yes, you could give yourself regenerating skin, it'd only be making you look pretty after getting stabbed, you'd still have a stab wound bleeding into your chest cavity.
