Versatile Finesse - Homebrew fighting style [PEACH]

A PC in my last campaign was a rogue/fighter with a Dynamic Weapon (a magic weapon with no enhancement bonus that can morph into any other weapon as a bonus action), so I thought it would be neat to design a new fighting style to complement her capabilities with it. What I came up with:

Versatile Finesse

You may treat any weapon you wield as if it had the Finesse property.

It might seem a little unbalanced to make it possible to have a 2d6 finesse weapon, but actually it hasn't been much of a problem. The damage increase is only about .5 higher than if she had used a rapier+shield with the Dueling fighting style, and in return she loses the ability to use a shield at the same time. The real gain is in offensive versatility.

Also it allows for great moments where she wields a huge maul like a wiffle bat, which I find hilarious.

Any thoughts? Is it actually as balanced as I think, or is there some terrible corner case I'm missing?

I dont really like it as a feat, but i do understand where it comes from, there are plenty of styles and weapons that rely on quickly spinning weapons around and technique much more then just swinging hard. I would just make a versitale two handed weapon them make a person spend a feat. THis is a great help to monk, though monks also get to just increase their monk weapon damage as per the Monk Class Table.

Fighters get the Fighting Styles, so I was thinking you could actually make it one of those. It'd be a justifiable dip for 1 level fighter and still allow most classes to get some awesome stuff from their 19 levels in their other class, still holding on to their ability score increase at 19th level.

Some minor balance issues:

I think you have made a better fighting style for great weapon users in general.  At most the great weapon style adds 1.33 extra damage to a maul or greatsword.

However, going dex increases alot of other very important things:

1.  Better initiative Initiative

2.  Dex saving throws > Str saving throws

3.  Dex skills like stealth > athletics and other str based skills

4.  Ability to use bows effectively > ability to use str based range weapons effectively

As such I think the new style is strictly superior to the great weapon style.  All that for 1.33 damage given up per attack?  Count me in!!!

It's not that your new style is overpowered comparitvely to everything else.  It's not.  I just think it takes the place of the great weapon style

Maybe you should restrict the finessee property to applying to only 1 handed and versatile weapons instead of also applying to two handed weapons?

Maybe add in the ability to quickly take on and off a shield.  That way it's easy to switch between her weapons and shield and ranged weapon options?  You can still get the 2 handed MAUL feel  you liked by using a warhammer in it's versatile state.  1d10 as opposed to 2d6 but the cool factor is still there.

My proposed changes would allow her to go from using a d8 rapier with dex in one hand to using a warhammer in both hands for d10 damage and using dex with it.  The ability to change the shield out means whatever option she want's is present.

warhammer and shield one turn.  1d8 damage and +2 AC

longsword wielded two handed next turn.  1d10 damage

bow pulled out the next turn.  1d8 ranged damage

It may even be okay to allow the style to also give +1 damage to versatile weapons that are wielded with both hands.  This way the style gives comparable options.  **Just note that this +1 bonus damage should be disallowed from stacking with duelist if both styles are ever chosen at the same time.

Base d8 damage

1.  ranged?  (d8 longbow)

2.  +2 AC?  (d8 weapon and shield)

3.  +2 damage (d10 + 1 vs d8)

And all of these options can be easily changed between due to shields being able to be taken on and off quickly?

Basically, i'm fine with dex based weapons taking two hands and doing near the same damage as a maul or greatsword.  I'm not okay with greatweapons themselves gaining the ability to use dex.  (mostly because of the feats associated with greatweapons, and the ability to gain the great weapon style through other means like multiclassing or champion fighter).

I would make it something like having all non-heavy weapons be able to do that. That stops maul, greatsword, and greataxe, but leaves about everything else.
