I was wondering how you handle a situation where your party enters a completely dark room, in which you have some players with darkvision that can use that to see 60 feet into the room, and other players without darkvision whose light sources illuminate 20 feet and provide dim light for another 20 feet? If I have monsters at, say 50 feet, that will jump to the attack as soon as the players enter the room, how do you handle initiative and the situation in general?
I was thinking that everyone rolls initiative like normal, but a player without darkvision could not move until after at least one monster or at least one darkvision player (assuming that the darkvision player as part of his turn shouted out something like "Monsters this way!" and then moved to the attack in the monsters' direction. |
