I've posted this deep in my new races thread but I thought this is generally useful enough that giving it a thread of it's own is justified to 'spread the word' a bit better.
Half Elf Variant
Why should a half high elf and a half dark elf be the same? With this variant you can add an elf subrace to represent different elf bloodlines.
Medium Humanoid
Speed 30ft
Languages: Common, Elven, and any one other language.
Choose one subrace of elf. You gain all of the traits of that subrace including the ability score modifier and lesser traits (4).
You gain two skills of your choice. (4)
Charisma is raised by +1 (2)
Add +1 to any one other ability score other than Charisma and the ability score modified by your sub-race. (2)
Lesser Traits
Darkvision 60ft, Fey Ancestry, plus those granted by your elf sub-race.
Parenthesis ( ) are point costs for the reverse engineered race creation system. 12pt to a race.
Clarification: you don't get the core elf traits or ability score modifiers. Only those from the sub race.
