OK so every now and then one needs a machine of general doom and despair. Thus was the
:evillaugh Eldrich Machine!:evillaugh
created. Now I figured that there should be a fair deal of Eberron DMs out there, and then there should be a fair amount of said machines. And if you are not a DM, feel free to create one. The only limit you actually have is that the machine is capable of spawning any one wish effect. Perfect example of this is the Ark in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the lost ark.

And here is my contributions:

1: Creates a manifest Zone of random nature. IE:
2: Creates portal too random plane of choice
3: Undeads cannot be destroyed or turned within the manifestation zone.
4: User is transformed into a creature based on alignment.
5: Machine awakens long lost sleeping bad thing. Preferably in the swamp.
6: Magic Type X within the area is amplified, maximised, duration is increased by X rounds.

I think the one I'm using in my current game is a little more powerful than your examples, but I'll go ahead and list it anyway.

7. Turns entire nations into a blasted wasteland, killing almost everyone and spawning creatures-that-should-not-be.

Yes, it's what caused the Mourning. And yes, it's about to do it again. Four times, in fact :D

8. THE KEY
A device of ancient power, built into a tiny looking mechanical device about the general size & shape of a pendant. A metal disk is built around a red pulsating crystal, The metal exterior spins around (in 5 seperate segments). One segment is inscribed with the dragonmarks (which in this case represent the moons). The others are marked with unreadable symbols.

The Key is a map to a dungeon & a key to a setting within. A setting which points the PC's to their ultimate ending: A lost dungeon in Khorvaire somewhere. Once players get there & conquer the dungeon they discover that the key is not only a compass & key, but also the power source to a powerful device know as...

Pretty much anything you want to put their.

Whats worse, is that it is sentinent & not happy

9. A device that eats manifest zones and stores their planar energies in a network of Khyber dragonshards, to be used for some grim purpose later. Now, activate such a device in the middle of Sharn...

10. This I've been thinking about as a device being researched by some maniac Silver Flame zealot:

A machine that generates a persistent Holy Word spell at caster level 11+
Once activated, this machine will *purge* all the evil across and even beyond Khorvaire. By all the evil, it really means all the nongood low-level commoners, as you can see from the spell description. :D

Alternatively, it can be a machine invented by an ancient force and discovered by the Silver Flame zealot. Then the CL of the machine will be 20+. Soon after he activates the machine, himself will become a victim of the spell because his action turns him to nongood...

11. An Eldritch Device that can suck the souls from a town or city. It needs to be placed on top of a tall building. The peoples whose souls are gone turn into undead and the souls are collected into a Khyber Shard at the Machines top. The current wielder is an elf that plans to use the souls in a ritual that will possibly bring back the mark of death.

12. **Celestial Mirrors**. They are located in several dragon temples across Eberron. When they are all aligned they can create a Draconic Prophecy symbol that most of the world could see. The Mirrors are dragonshards that can align themselves to other planes and channel energy from those planes or create Portals to those Planes.

Currently the Cult of Tiamat looks to aqcuire just one of these temples. They are helping Lyrandar build a new form of skyship, an orbital skcraft. This "ship" will be able to channel the power from just one Mirror and focus it as a weapon that can be used anywhere on the planet. The Lyrandar do not know that rakshashas are helping them with Rajah arcane tech from the Age of Demons. They just are thinking about how much money they can make with such a "final solution" weapon(not all of the members know of this project). The Cult wants the device so they can use it to "dig out" Tiamat and a few of her trusted allies that are buried in Eberron.

**I took a bit of this idea from the Dragons of Eberron.**

I actually have an eldritch machine similar to the one Nephallim described. It deactivates manifest zones, and it can be shut off and taken elsewhere without the zone re-activating. The BBEG is going to use it to make all elves into his minions by threatening to remove the zone over the City of the Dead, then hold Shan for ransom.

13: "Lyrandar fools! This device was created in the third age by the titans of yor! You're pitiful marks can do nothing to stop me! Now, give me the Tablets of Yongor or see your precious Stormhome driven into the sea by a hurricane the likes of which your nightmares would run screaming from!"

Weather machine.
