Yup, I'm making a 3.5e thread.
Mainly I'm interested to hear if Merrix d'Cannith was ever statted out in any of the books. One of my players said he had started turning himself into a self-forged (the 3.5e equivalent if it has a different name).
The books I've read (Sharn: City of Towers, Dragonmarked, 4th ed Eberron Campaign Guide) certainly don't mention that, or if they do I've forgotten. They simply list his classes as artificer 9/dragonmark heir 3.
So I was wondering where he had gotten it from? Is it from a novel? adventure? Or simply my player's imagination?

Merrix was officially a lawful evil human artificer 9/dragonmark heir 3, as detailed on page 144 of the ECS.
This does not mean he could have been somehow part-warforged, however--I believe Keith Baker wrote a book with a similar plot premise. There are also rumors that Merrix is working on, or has already figured out, how to put a human mind into a warforged--some say he may already have done this, using himself as a test subject. I forget which page has THAT information.
But regardless, no: Merrix is not, by canon, part warforged. But "canon" in Eberron is quite loose; he can be whatever you need him to be for your campaign. That's why for every one fact the books give us, it gives us 12 rumors or leads or hooks, such as the ones mentioned above.
To expand on the last poster's lackluster answer, it was MORRAN d'Cannith who was interested in being part-warforged; any of Merrix's experiments, if I recalled correctly, were more about a warforged's MIND than BODY.

Oh yeah. I've got a particular vision of Merrix (informed based on what I've read about him and also my desires for the world of Eberron). But I do like to know when I'm contradicting canon simply so I can make an informed choice
