| #1DDiceRCAug 18, 2008 21:19:55 | I have never played using a campaign setting before, but after reading some of the posts about Eberron I am now excited about the possibilities of using the Eberron setting with 4e. (OK, I actually went out and bought a used copy of the 3e setting book to get a preview, too, and that just boosted my interest.) I've read some of the threads on 4e Eberron, and honestly since we'll be starting from scratch the changes to the planes, pantheons, etc. aren't an issue to my group since we have nothing invested in them. (I'm not saying those changes aren't important to others, just not to us n00bs.) There are a couple of questions I have, although these may not have been answered officially yet. Still, I'm open to reading speculation just as well. ![]() 1) Do you think the prestige classes will become paragon paths? I actually like the PP better than PrCs personally, but to each his own. We're just wondering if there will still be some way to be an Extremem Explorer or Warforged Juggernaut. 2) Psionics seem to have a big place in Eberron, and I love psionics. Will the 4e Psionic rules be out before Eberron is released? (I know, the content of all the books keeps changing, but maybe somebody heard something somewhere at some time about this...?) Looking forward to hearing what the vets have to say about this especially. |
| #2NivedAug 18, 2008 21:38:07 | 1) Yes, in fact the Warforged Juggernaut is already a Paragon Path presented in issue 364, along with a full Warforged racial write up with racial feats. Furthermore issue 365 has a playtest build for the 4e artificer. 2) Unfortunately no, from the news coming out of Gen Con Psionics will be in the Player's Handbook 3 at the earliest, which wont be out by the time the 4E Eberron Campaign Guide and Eberron Player's Guide will be out. That being said Kalashtar will still be in the Player's Guide and they should still be a good choice for psionics when they come out. In the meantime it was said at Gen Con that the Kalashtar's religion to the Path of Light will be expanded upon making them a good choice for divine classes, even though they will be ultimatly be built with psionics in mind. |

| #4NivedAug 19, 2008 22:23:39 | From what I hear there wont be a whole lot of overlap. The Player's Guide will have all the racial stats, the full artificer class, and something like 20+ (forgot the exact number said at Gen Con) paragon paths. It will also cover general information about the setting. For instance the public face of the Blood of Vol. It wont say what country is secretly ruled by a Vampire, it wont say which churches have corrupt leaderships, it wont mention the warmongering plots of otherwise good monarchies. It will cover generally known historical information and culture. As well as have all the spiffy cool magic items. The Eberron Campaign Guide will be written with DMs in mind, the secret histories and global conspiracies, it'll go into detail about the hidden black hearts behind so many seemingly bonevolent organizations, it will have the Threats (i.e. villains), monsters, and artifacts of Eberron, as well as information on the cosmology and the planes. |

If the enemy is, then remember that enemies powers are completely different than PC's, and can be anything you want. So add a few attacks from the monster manual that deal psychic damage instead of whatever type they do. And as said above, Juggernaut is already a PP and Artificer has a part of it's class done out. |
