| #1ieattrollsforbreakfastJun 17, 2008 11:54:42 | Well, the books have been out for 11 days so it's about time I started making monsters again. I thought I'd go for something simple for my first try, and decided to convert an old favourite of mine. Since the formatting is so much easier to read on my website, and since if I post the article here WotC can use it, I'll link you staight there: The Taalgrot ![]() Enjoy ![]() Constructive criticism is always welcome, especially since this is my first try with the new rules. |
| #2snarky_monkeyJun 17, 2008 15:57:55 | I like it, though the vomit ability is sure to turn some heads, and probably some stomachs at my game table. ;) Did you do the picture as well? It's really good! |
| #3skrap-sanJun 17, 2008 16:04:55 | really nice, looking forward to your next write up. |
| #4ieattrollsforbreakfastJun 18, 2008 7:30:18 | Thanks guys ![]() I know the vomit ability is a bit disgusting (someone said that when I posted the 3e version too!), but this is an aberration spawned by the Daelkyr after all! The illustration is by Cameron Kolbe. You can see his Deviant Art page here: http://clkolbe.deviantart.com/ |
| #5JohnLynchJun 18, 2008 21:18:25 | I like it ![]() A few questions: * How well playtested is this creature (I'm guessing not at all ;)). * You used the DMG guides to create the creature, right? I only ask because I do like the creature, especially its interesting background for such a low level monster, and would like to include it in my game ;) |
| #6revvecorJun 18, 2008 21:49:02 | I am glad to see that you are making(remaking) monsters. It is always good to have another source of unique creatures to draw from when my players begin to try and anticipate their upcoming opponents. Great job!!!:D |
| #7DargurdJun 19, 2008 16:24:51 | I love the monster and definately plan to make use of it. Can i ask where did you get the stat block format from with the symbols - did you make that yourself ? |
| #8ieattrollsforbreakfastJun 19, 2008 17:48:45 | Once again, thanks for the comments everyone.A few questions: You're right, it's not at all playtested, at least not yet. I think (hope!), though, given the maths behind 4E and the DMG rules, that it should work pretty well. Yes, I used the DMG guidelines, modifying a few numbers here and there to fit the theme. I only ask because I do like the creature, especially its interesting background for such a low level monster, and would like to include it in my game ;) Thanks, that's what I like to hear ![]() Can i ask where did you get the stat block format from with the symbols - did you make that yourself ? I made it myself, though I copied the high-res attack/dice images from a PDF and resized them. All the symbols are available in the SRD if you're looking for them. |
