Yes, that is the Lord of Blades. The two dog like-things are his hommunculi, Hilt and Pommel.

Sure they will, they'll match all your 4e books.

those covers look great... the dates for them on the other hand... make me want to cry... or freeze myself... hmmm, but how to get unfrozen... that's where my plan falls apart...

The hard part isn't the unfreezing.
A large tub filled with 80 degree water works well for that.

It's freezing fast enough to keep the water from crystallizing and shredding the cells on a nano scale.

I want more preview articles...
And can we please get a preview of how dragonmarks will work? Please?

The cover for the ECG and the EPG are actually one large picture... Though it looks like some was cut off so you can't just place them next to each other for the full image.

It was James Wyatt's laptop wallpaper, we saw it while he was booting up the power point presentation at Gen Con.

Ooo the Lord of Blades plus pets. Methinks we'll be getting some much-needed Warforged love in 4e for everyone's favourite Mournland Despot \m/ .

June 2009 for Eberron... happy we are finally getting a date, too bad I won't be in a country where I can get them.

Is that tongue in cheek humor, or an anti 4e quip?

Either way, the new art looks fantastic.

Tongue in cheek, of course. But you all know it is inevitable, 5th edition will be out around 2016. ;)

2016 is a little closer than I hope for. I'm hoping the new edition gets at least 10 years shelf life. But I would not at all be surprised (or upset) if we see a new edition by 2018.

If there's a new edition in 2016, I'll be happy, because it'll mean the world didn't end in early December 2012

We now return you to your regularly scheduled madness.

Oh, and I'm glad to see that the 'faded' background to the D&D text is becoming standard... it's sad to see all the great cover art on the earlier releases and have two whole inches of it totally concealed by a whopping great strip of uninspiring off-white...

Nice catch, Joni. I was wondering how soon these were going to show up. That's definitely the LoBster on the cover of the ECG. I do wonder if the background is going to be filled out more before release, though, there's not a whole lot going on behind the subject characters on the ECG and EPG.

i can only pray that my skills will be as good one day.... but i do agree that the artwork is more than a little inspiring! Evil LoBsters with delusions of devinity and all that good jazz. yep, it time to find a way for humans to hibrenate.
test subjects will be in high demand!!!
