Considering Skycoaches only work when inside the city, would they cost 80 gp? 300 gp? What about a soarsled or a flying carpet (I'm assuming Sharn flying carpets are different to the high-Paragon tier flying carpet item)? I'm just curious :D Knowing players, there's a good chance one of them will want to buy one, so I was wondering if there was a way to say "yes you can have it for only X gp" or if I'll have to say "the sale of those items are heavily regulated and so you need a special license that takes 3 years of training." |

The city is 6 miles in diameter, so that comes out to a tiny bit more than 2 sp per mile. I'd just keep the 3e price. Anyway, 3d travel is encouraged while in Sharn, so I'd probably price a Manifest-Zone-Dependant flying conveyance as a Level 1 magic item: 520 gp. I'd make it big enough to fit one pilot and 6 passengers. (Basically, a 2 x 4 space on a battle grid. 10 feet by 20 feet seems like a decent size for a small flying boat) A featherfall token, I'd price as a first level consumable item. I don't think those exist yet, so ballpark 10 gp. (You don't want PCs dying at 1st level because of one Push effect made them fall to their death.) |

That would have simply been a DM excuse to stop them from having flying machines that will unbalance fights ;) A featherfall token, I'd price as a first level consumable item. Y'know, it hadn't even occurred to me to throw my players off a tower with a push effect. Good idea! While that could be okay for a non-combat vehicle (skycoach?), do others agree a soarsled or flying carpet should be this easily accessible? Perhaps I could say the pilot has to expend a standard action to keep a flying carpet or soarsled under control? |

If you want it to be PC-available for purchase later on, I'd say make it a level 5,6, or 7 magic item. It's really what's best for you and your PCs. I know that 520 gp for a more or less non-combat item would be a bit much for my PCs. The earliest they'd be able to get it is level 2, and probably only if someone gives up their magic weapon or armor. Basically, the way I see it, is that a skycoach is the equivalent of a normal cart for Sharn-based games. It gets you where you need to go for the adventure. It shouldn't be costing much more. Now, a flying conveyance that can span CONTINENTS and get you where you need to be faster than anything else except teleportation? That's about a level 15 item, I'd say. So a paragon Lyrander heir can own his own ship midway through the tier. |

Just a side note: a push off a tower in Sharn doesn't have to mean that the character falls all the way to the Cogs. Extras fall to their deaths; PCs fall to the next landing/cargo net/laundry line/bridge/passing skycoach and take their Xd6. ;) |
