This time around, I'm preparing to run the Forgotten Forge story arc, and have been converting encounters for 4E, and I wanted to get some feedback so I can make tweaks here and there (I've already designed the Bloody Bridge encounter 3 times so what's one more if I see a good idea) Most of the encounters have converted really easily just by dropping in the new versions of the monsters and adjusting the numbers a bit. Example: Show The Iron Defender fight is now 1 Iron Defender 2 Clay Scouts 6 Wolves (that I just changed to constructs and minionized them) |

What do you (all) think of replacing the rebuke attack with a ranged attack/round from the Repeating-Swiftshot-Crossbow? Have Fun |
| #4GiloNov 18, 2008 1:07:34 | I suggest you add a basic range attack power and replace rebuke with a Double-Attack power which gives two basic attacks (since Solo monsters need more then one attack per turn) then you will be covered for both range and melee combat. |

Saber, Level 2 Solo Soldier Initiative +3 HP 156; Bloodied 78 AC 19; Fort 16; Ref 13; Will 12 Saving Throws +5; +7 vs. ongoing damage Speed 5 Action Points 2 Basic Melee Attack: (standard; At-Will) Rapier; +9vsAC; 1d10+3 Basic Range Attack: (standard; At-Will) Shoulderbow +8vsAC; 1d10+2 Dancing Shoulderbow: (standard; sustain minor; encounter) Saber's shoulderbow detach, floats up 10 feet and makes a basic attack against a target in range. Saber can sustain fire as a minor action (based on the bows line of sight) and move the shoulderbow location as a move action. Spinning torso blades: (recharge 56;standard) close burst 1 ; blades attached to Saber's torso spring out and spin damaging targets around him; +7vsReflex; 2d6+1 and target is pushed 1. The left fist of iron: (recharge 6; standard) reach 3; Saber left fist detach and slams into a nearby target then retracts back on its chain; +9vsAC; 3d6+3 and target is dazed until the end of Saber's next turn. Arcane Springboard: (move; encounter) Saber jumps high and lands on a square in 4 range and does not provoke attacks of opportunity. WF Resolve (Minor; while blooded) gain 16 temp hp |
| #6OgiwanNov 19, 2008 10:42:14 | Hmm, I started it the same night everybody agreed I was the DM (We took a poll as to what setting/DM, and I "lucked out"). I had the bridge be 2 'forged directly from the book, had a skill challenge to get into Morgrave University (the students were protesting, as students are wont to do), and another one to find the location of the valve cluster (the PCs went to the library instead of the rat market), and then I had some 'forged attack them in the library. The sewers, I just threw the two Shifters from the MM at them, the beetle swarm was a pain in the ass (used the rat swarm, i think, or something. i didn't like it), and the Iron Defenders were a pair of the iron defenders from the book. Sabre was a level 1 solo with the Fighter and Beserker templates from the DMG. I'm currently onto Shadows of the Last War, and they're a bit more than halfway done, I'd say. I can't wait until i get to put them through Whispers |

Have Fun |
| #8skrapsanNov 19, 2008 13:30:00 | I would love to run this one, but of my friends have tried the starting quest, and most have played through or DMd the rest of it... so I find myself in lack of players to "torture" with it :P |
| #9OgiwanNov 21, 2008 20:36:34 | Eh, I was really lazy, and just made them....zombies. |
| #10skrapsanNov 22, 2008 0:52:35 | Eh, I was really lazy, and just made them....zombies. Never underestimate the power of changed description! In one of my sessions my players fought a giant tree, now since there is no animated objects as of yet I used a crocodile as basecreature and changed the looks. |
| #11RedRiderNov 22, 2008 12:19:48 | One thing I'd consider worth mentioning for the Bloody Bridge encounter would be that if someone tries to push another person off the bridge the target's saving throw to avoid falling should probably be 6-20 instead of 10-20, due to the walls on the sides of the bridge. |
| #12OgiwanNov 23, 2008 7:54:19 | That's definitly worth taking note. My party's Rogue jumped in and knocked both the 'forged off in one turn. I should have done something to prevent that. Like what you suggested. |
