First off, great film. Will probably win Oscar for best film.

Second, I thought the slums and streets they showed were a great illustration of what could exist in Sharn, New Cyre, or other Eberron slums. After reading both the 1st book in the Dreaming Dark Trilogy and the 2nd book in the Lanternlight Files, I still think Slumdog does a better job of describing the lower levels of Sharn.

An an aside, what do you guys think of a Heroic level campaign similar to Slumdog Millionaire?

In the early years of Galifar, the Twelve held a "Challenge of Aureon" between the Dragonmarked Houses. Every year, each house sent a group of six or less members of their house to the contest, whereupon their knowledge of History, Religion, Arcana, and Nature would be tested. Each team, starting and ending separately, would try and answer 30 questions in a single-elimination test of mental endurance, with the winners receiving a valuable Dragonshard.

The "Challenge of Aureon" has recently been revived by Morgrave University (with financial backing by member of the Aurum) and has opened itself to allow teams from the remaining Five Nations to participate. With the number of teams going over the unlucky number 13, Morgrave University has allowed one group of peasants from the streets of Sharn to test their knowledge. In most years, the winner has been determined before the 13th team could play; when they do play, the organizers treat them as comedic relief.

This year, none of the first 12 teams have been able to answer all 30 questions. So they bring in the 13th team, the PCs.

Haven't seen the movie yet (just the trailer), looks interesting.

You can have the PCs play Khorvaire city goblins which will be in theme with India's lower class status. It will also make them wining the "Challenge of Aureon" more sensational.

Y'know, that's a good idea. I initially wanted to avoid making it about race, but given the religious tensions vividly shown in the movie, having the PCs being goblins seems oh so right.
