I was browsing tvtropes re: the new Tron movie and my mind was blown. The Olivia Wilde character's name is spelled Quorra. Like Quori. The mind-influencing creatures from a dream realm who can become real by interfacing with humans. Doesn't that sound like a great hook for Eberron?

Let's say that House Phiarlan, during the Last War, experimented on creating illusions that persisted after the perceiver recognized them as illusions. An ambitious elf named Khevn Flayan began creating illusionary environments with actions and consequences that persisted as long as the viewer wanted it to. Possible uses to trap people prone to vice, or friendly combatants who need an unbreakable bunker.

Research for this grinds to a halt during the Shadow Schism, and Flayan finds to his dismay that his co-workers (now with House Thuranni) have control of the ancient Sarlonian artifact that made their research possible. He attempt to retrieve it, but is instead sent to the Plane of Dreams, where he meets the Quori and claims a small fiefdom of dreamspace for himself. A "grid" exists for illusion-makers to remake reality, with the help of the dream spirits Flayan helped free from darkness.

In his "grid", he is able to mold reality with the help of a self-created dream simulcrum of himself called Klu. Alongside Trhan, they keep the Quori out and create the perfect version of Eberron, without war, death, or Khyber. As news of the safe haven spreads, light versions of the Quori began appearing inside the grid. Flayan theorized that his mental exertion on the Plane of Dreams was beginning a shift in the cosmic sway of light and darkness. Through psychic exertion, mortalkind could influence the real world and make it free of the plights Flayan hoped to simply hide them from.

But Klu could not handle this change in plan. Like the Quori, this light dream spirit would not brook change to his initial commands: make a perfect world here in the grid. So he betrayed Flayan and Trhan, and reconstituted the light dream spirits into illusions designed to make the grid more realistic and perfect.

Flayan and Quorra, hiding in the dreamscapes beyond the grid, wait for change to occur in the grid. Klu, sensing change, attempts to lure Flayan back to the Grid by bringing his Half-Elf son Sam into the Plane of Dreams.

God damn if all my players had not seen Tron already I would so steal this as a campaign idea. It would also mix really well with spell jammer. Personallly I love runnning one-off games the "mirror" the plot of big blockbuster movies, in which I personally fix or lampshade the things that ticked me off. I may actually have to use this now.

Weird, I just suggested Neuromancer to another poster as inspiration for noirish Eberron.
