Lam is devoted to the philosophy of the Perfect Form. He believes that the best way to learn someone is to truly become them, and enlightenment comes from understanding the world. That said, he believes that many fellow changelings fall short in their pursuit of the Perfect Form. They are content to train their innate shapeshifting powers, and no more. But magic courses throughout this world, and with study, you are no longer limited to turning only into other people. So Lam chose to study with the Greensinger druids, learning the secrets of wildshaping. But his quest for enlightenment continues. It is not enough to learn to look like another being - you must learn to become them. Learning to understand animals has proven harder than people. And so he set his eyes of House Vadalis. Who better understands animals than the bearers of the Mark of Handling? He began to scope out a House Vadalis enclave, hoping to be hired (passing, of course, for human). But without the underbelly connections of slier changelings, he had no identification papers, and whatever jobs he could find lacked prospects for advancement. He could not learn there. Then luck fell his way. (Perhaps he should have bewared the gifts of the Traveler). He stumbled across the murdered body of a Vadalis noble. Lam knows not what happened to the noble, but he found an opportunity to better integrate himself into the inner workings of House Vadalis. Unfortunately, he proved to not be the only one to stumble across the body. And when a person is found murdered with a changeling impersonating him, people tend to make assumptions. Now Lam is, well, on the lam. Wanted for the assassination and impersonation of a dragonmarked noble, Lam now needs to dodge the pursuit of Tharask bounty hunters. Perhaps they wouldn't be so dogged in their pursuits if it wasn't a dragonmarked noble he had allegedly murdered. Can he run forever, or is his only hope to discover the truth and clear his name? |

| #4ellorinJun 16, 2009 15:11:16 | My point exactly. Up to a point anyway. My beloved comrades in our campaign have currently feuds with Ketheptis, a guild of Khyber-worshipping assassins, an Eladrin mage and some mysterious tomb raiders*sigh* |

Well, I figured it'd make for an interesting backstory. Plus it gives him some real adventuring motivation. I'm still up in the air about the Greensingers. I feel I ought to choose a sect, and I'm not sure which one best suits Lam. Possibly Greensingers, but I appear to have given him a meditative nature that wouldn't jive with them, even if a changeling might really entertain the fey. Wardens of the Wood? Also, I'm considering personality quirks. I figure that if he believes you understand a person best by becoming them, he may tend to morph into your mirror image while in conversation. Or at least always assume a form of the same race and gender. |

Beneath the fey revelry, Greensingers believe that *everything* in the cosmos is natural and has a right to exist in the right state of balance (including, say, Xoriat). This could jive with your changeling's view on emulating everything. |

The rumor that the EPG changelings have the option to choose a Dexterity bonus makes this character type much more manageable. Once the monk rules are solid, a changeling druid|monk may also be a good take on the Path of the Perfect Form. |

And AvonRekaes, thanks for the input on the Greensingers. A Greensinger he is then. Any ideas on the name of the noble he replaced? Maybe Leomund d'Vadalis? |
| #9lyranJun 27, 2009 13:26:32 | I like this. A lot. In fact I might even end up altering this a little bit and playing a character along these lines. It seems like a really great idea. How did you come up with this? I enjoy this a lot, thank you for sharing it! :D |
| #10seanherring_dupJun 28, 2009 13:14:27 | Well you know..back in the days of LG in the Gran March we had a couple of years of recurring RTEs from the Githyanki seeking to get their silver swords back (short end: some got taken by pc's in an early year 5 mod and most mods afterwards were inlcuding the encounter if any pc had one)...the whole thing was quite humorus until I believe it was a Triad member from another region who played a mod and got jumped because of that..then it wasn't so funny any more... So yes ..the Thrask bounty hunters can add a fun element to it..just hopefully your DM doesn't beat a dead horse with using them..maybe just add them in as a "guide to choose the adventure that is being offered as a way out of town" kinda thing ...great way to get you to do all those fun missions you really would rather not do... |
