| #1CraggleRockApr 20, 2008 9:00:50 | For my new campaign which is to be set in Eberron (with 4E rules when it comes out: yeah, I'm that much of a masochist :D ) I was very much considering setting it, at least for the starting levels, in a circus which all the PCs will be a part of. (An evenings performance seems like a good way to demonstrate the new Skill Encounter system early on.) Sharn seems to be a popular setting for Eberron campaigns, and from some of the information in the preview, I admit to liking the "fluff" quite a lot. The thing is, the preview mentions that there already is a "year round circus" present in the city, so would that mean a circus could even profit near Sharn? And is it even possible to set up outside of Sharn's city limits with enough "through traffic"? (From the preview, it looks to be pretty isolated by cliffs and chasms.) Yes, I could have the PCs be a part of the circus already set up inside the city, but one of the plothooks of my campaign idea is largely dependent on the circus owner having "set up shop" independently. It may be that the outskirts of another city would fit this idea far better (I'm going to be borrowing a friends copy of ECS in order to work up some of my own "fluff" for the campaign ahead of the rules, so am not intimitely familiar with the setting), but if people think Sharn could be a good "fit", I'd think of picking up a copy of the Sharn sourcebook from the game store at the same time. |

The lion tamer used his animal companions in combat. It was basically a traveling criminal organization that stole and kidnapped. I wish I could remember the details now…it was a long time ago. |
