#1 sluggo Nov 20, 2009 11:08:50	I am making a new character for an Eberron game, and the Aerenal Elves have caught my interest. However Eberron (i'm not super familiar with the world) seems to be a world with lots of different cultures and differences between races depending on where they are from. The Valnor (sp) elves for example, seem to me, as they would be mostly rangers, whilring barbarians and temptest fighters. However I havn't/can't get the same kind of connect to a class(es) with the Aerenal. I perfer to play the striker role (though I have no problem playing a more damage oriented defender). What classes would/do fit the Aerenal the best? Thanks
#2 Hellcow Nov 20, 2009 11:37:55	Aerenal's greatest strength is actually the divine. If you want to play a striker, an Avenger of the Deathguard is a fine choice. However, the Aereni also focus on perfecting certain traditional skills, and they have considerable arcane talent; with that in mind, almost any class could fit (though primal is more of a Tairnadal thing). But you could have an Aereni wizard or bard, or a rogue either practicing the skills of his line or working for the Cairdal Blades. So I'd say that Divine is the greatest strength of Aerenal and the most distinguishing feature of the culture - the presence of the Undying Court in their midst. But any class could work; it's mainly that they put a tight focus on perfecting a particular skill as opposed to developing a broad range. So taking Skill Focus instead of additional Skill Training is the sort of thing that makes a character feel Aereni.
#3 focusgents Nov 28, 2009 20:34:19	your mention of the striker role made me think of the warlock. in a way, the devotion to the Undying Court is similar to the vestige pact, and I immediately thought of the Godfragment paragon path (AP90). it even has necrotic keyword powers. Really, the warlock borrows power from his master like the divine worshipper, he just has a secret and personal pact. if an elf gained enough prominence, the Court may deem to lend him some power in an urgent quest.
