| #1vanforgeOct 16, 2008 21:45:10 | While yes I know there is a lot of threads on this topic, I still wanted to make my own topic because I have an idea that at least I haven't seen before. During the Great Dragon-Fiend, the fiendish offspring of khyber greatly out numbered the Dragons and Couatls of the world. Barely hold on against the overwhelming odds, the dragons turned to arcane might to create a race of quick breeding, to them, humanoid sized soldiers. By taking some of the best parts of the common humanoid races, the strength of an orc, the size of a hobgoblin, the hardiness of a dwarf, and the quick thinking of a human then combining that with the power of a dragon breath and the furry of a dragon, the Dragonborn were created. 10,000,000s of Dragonborn were lost in the war, the race was nearly stuffed out as less then 50 survived the war. Left behind after the dragons retreated back to Argonnessen, the Dragonborn wandered Khorvaire for many years. Finally they found the caves in between the Mror Holds, Talenta Plains and Q'barra. Distrusting of other races the Dragonborn have used the fear of the graveyard and Korran's Maw to hide themselves from, as they see it, the lesser warmongering races. But the race is quickly out growing the caves left in the mountains, even now rumors of a race of dragonkin humanoids hiding in the mountains of the east spread like wildfire threw the cities of Khoravire. |

IIRC, that's where the good-aligned Yuan-ti live as well (who were subjected to much the same treatment from the Coautl as the Dragonborn from the Dragons). Well...that would really defeat the point of the Dragons/Couatls being forced to create the Dragonborn because they were so outnumbered :P |
| #4vanforgeOct 17, 2008 14:39:32 | Well my idea for Tieflings is that during the war Humans spreaded out over Khovaire. The unlucky few that end up in demon wastes got to be thier wipping boys. Angry about thier lost and being... well fiends they did unspeakable horrors to the humans in the demon wastes. |

I think certain dragons would have created Dragonborn out of competitiveness towards their Couatl allies. "Anything you can do, I can do better" et al. Of course, they had a harder time of it. They started off splicing dragons with rats, and ended up with Kobolds. :P |
| #6rekkoOct 18, 2008 17:26:37 | :heehee I think it could be interesting to make the Dragonborn a Giant creation offered as a gift to the Dragons who thought them the ways of Magic. Dragonborns could then appear in Xen'drik, being the heirs of the Giants' slave. They could have been used against both quori and elves by the Giants. Some dragonborn stock were given to the Dragons which either greeted them or rejected them on Khorvaire or the Vast. Draonborns could also be one of the population that controlled Stormreach for a few decades, and used the city to explore Khorvaire. As for Tiefling, I like Rajah-touched beings, but I have difficulty imagining a non-evil Tiefling if I go with that. other races adaptation As for Eladrin, I am defenitly leaving them on Thelanis, and having a foothold in the Reaches and Aundair. Which could explain the great arcane traditions of Arcanix and the rest of Aundair. I'll also put some in Xen'drik, to explain the appearance of Elves, then of the Drows. Elves being Eladrin that adapted to the material plane, and drows being a giant creation, maybe. I like Genasi, so I am thinking of putting them in. I would like to link them to Elemental binding, and maybe with humanity's birth. Genasi would be being of the Elemental Chaos which for some reason came or fled to Sarlona, However, being in the material plane made it impossible for Genasi to manifest all elements, the Elemental planes were draining their elemental energy. Many Genasi lost their elemental 'type' and became humans. Those who resisted also lost a lot of the elemental in them, and thanks to Elemental binding/grafting (in a more powerful way known to Sulatars and Zils) they became the Genasi as we know them, holding to one elemental energy. I don't really know the Goliaths, so I might not include them, but I'm curious how others would do it. |
| #7GiloOct 19, 2008 0:11:22 | And I thought Dragonborns where just the inevitable result when dragonmarked person and a female Dragon having sex (I hope the female Dragon is in humanoid form at the time), a few years later the Dragon hatch a dragonborn egg (ofc later-on the dragonborn can just breed there own). ![]() |
