So, let's talk about angels. I really like the angels' role in Eberron. I was wondering, though, about angels that are worshippers of other religions than the Host and the Six. They're probably rarer( the Host and Six pantheon worship is most ancient and very adaptable) but I don't see why other religion shouldn't count some angels among their faithful. Here are some random thoughts. I hope you will share yours
.- The Silver(Binding/insert other name)Flame is a good candidate- this divine force has been worshipped in one form or another for millennia, has a clearly set goal and its struggle active versus evil should attract many good-aligned angels who intend to crusade against all forms of foulness. Furthermore, the couatl's sacrifice would have made an enormous impression on these creatures of faith. The vast majority definitely would be warrior angels. As for the plane that most could be found? Easy. Shavarath. The angels of the Flame would probably the most active of them all, not ever content to rule an astral domain.
- I wonder what angels think of Thir. Ultimate hubris? Or some might actually be draconists?
- The Path of Light is an interesting case. A relatively young religion, this one was first spread by the 67 rebellious Quori and the first kalashtar. This time it would be the mortals would teach the immortals. I do not expect many angels walking the Path of Light anyway.
- The elven religions seem...well, too elven. Why would an angel be interested in them? have no idea. Some might see some potential in the Undying Court but it sounds too farftched to me. Unless of course, it's the other way around-these angels were elven worshippers that managed to achieve immortality. After all, the elved do believe that the spirirts of the ancestors watch over them. They might even be manifestations of the Undying Court or Ascendants themselves. The Court's angels would frequent irian, the Spirits' wherever a glorious battle is fought. I feel somewhat stuck here.
- What happens to angels that serves no deity? Well, usually nothing good. This way leads to Idols and the Devlis of Baator. Ay better option for such troubled souls? Indeed there is-the Blood of Vol. It would probably be taboo for traditional angelic thinking, yet the Blood acknowledges the Divinity Within without the need for servants/followers or the callousness of the former paths. Many angels have seen much death in their immortal lives, so the battle against it might appeal even to "immortal" beings. After all, ven when the essence survivesm why should the individual be lost? These angels might be anywhere,really.
- Finally...angels are supposed to be wise. Yet the lure of the Far, the Unknown and Unnatural, the place no sane creature should visit might attract a few of them. Angels driven mad by the Far Realm or the whispers of Khyber might not be able to avoid the madness and eventually join a Cult of Khyber. I find this notion very unsettling.
