ANOTHER NAME FOR COAT OF ARND AND ASMODEUS IN EBERRON

I'm running a 4th ED Eberron campaign in Q'barra right now and I have a few questions about flavor. I'm using part of Thunderspire Mountain for some minor quests and was thinking of flavoring them like this.

1. Calling the Duergar 'Khyber touched dwarves -- remnants from the Kingdom of Stone.' Although that's a little wordy.

2. The final Duergar boss is a Palidan of Asmodeus, and for the life of me can't think of an appropriate dark six god that would translate well, or if I should do it as a cultist of the Dragon Below although that seems like a cop out.

3. I want to have the characters receive the artifact coat of Arnd and am looking for some back story to bring into the game that would be Eberron specific.

The PC's are Cyran refugee's who are trying to make thier own town in the Hope peninsula(I believe its up to the name NEW NEW NEW METROL now.) Most of the party are devotee's of the Silver Flame.

Basically what I am trying to set up is a way to introduce some Underdark elements to the game that are consistent and flavorful.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

3. Got a good Idea!
So the Coat or Arnd wants to relciam former glory. Make it the secret artifact of King Galifar. He who united the 5 Nations wore the Coat and over time it became sentient. Now, after being rescued by the Q'Barran royals who fled the destruction of the Kingdom of Galifar, the Coat was stolen some time ago by the Duregar or someone else who sold it to them. Now, once one of the players dons the Coat, he finds the Item to be sentient and willing to support a hero who could rise to the greatness of Galifar once more... *grin*

That is so awesome i have to steal it for my campaign right now

Oct 23, 2008 7:08:24 I like the idea of the Coat of Galifar, especially since my characters are trying to create their own kingdom (epic destiny from dragon). I'll definetely be using that, thinking of having the armor be Beyeshk(sp?) so it'll really stick out in their heads.

I don't want to use the name Asmodeus since I'm trying to reinforce the concept of a totally different world for the players(avoiding the standard D&D conventions) and Eberron the flavor up, thus why I was looking for a different name for Duergar and Asmodeus.

Thanks on the back story though, think I might have it have further history from the goblin kingdoms...Something from the Six Kings as well

Oct 23, 2008 22:01:55 I am going to take some of that for my game. I too used the Coat in my game, but I gave it to the goblin warlord in my game. What if the Coat belonged to Galifar but before him it also belonged to a Dhakanni Emperor?
That is how I am using it. What will Khoravaire think if this relic form their past winds up on a goblin?

Nov 14, 2008 1:56:20 As far as the paladin, I recommend a cultist of the Dragon Below. If they're really up on their standard D&D setting history they might be surprised to eventually find out these evil dorfs work with aberrations like illithids.
