I've heard the idea of using Eladrin for Aerenal Elves, but frankly they just don't fit...

Instead, I'd put the Eladrin in Thelanis, with possibly a large Eberron-immigrant population growing in the Eldeen Reaches, through the Manifest Zone to Thelanis.

I agree, that is how I would do it.

Rather than replace the existing elves, Eldarin should show up where fey creatures already exist in Eberron. Places like the Twilight Demenses(sp?) in the Eldeen Reaches, or maybe some of the more shadowy corners of Karrnath's forests (if you want them to have a more sinister image). It would let them enter into the setting in a logical way without causing a lot of unnecessary change.

Those are real good a i think i will use them but what i want to know is are the Eladrin good to be like others in other settings or are they going to be different.

I have to admit that while it was my first idea to dovetail Eladrin straight into Aerenal elves, it just doesn't cut the mustard. So I figure keep everything else for them, but change their flavour so they've got ties to Irian instead of the Feywild and change out their teleport trick for some other nice ability that reflects the Aerenal elves close ties to death, life, magic etc. Of course I'm still trying to figure out what, so any help would be appreciated ;) .

BTW cool idea Romulus, I may have to plagarise extensively for my game :P.

... the Aereni aren't becoming eladrin. Some people have come very close to guessing the path we're taking with the new races; other people are farther off.

If anything, I would make dragonmarks into "races", and make the Eladrin the basis for House Orien.

I mentioned on these boards about having Eladrin being from Thelanis and have the elves be eladrin that were kidnapped and enslaved by the giants. The eladrin through magical experiments and adapting to life on Eberron became the elves. Hellcow mentioned this was a premise he was going towards. Not sure how much of what I mentioned was on the money or just a few peices of it.

See, I thought of it the other way around. While some elves fled to Aerenal, others planeshifted to the closest planes of that time: Thelanis. Then, elves adapted theirselves to the fey plane and became Eladrins. Now, you can find Eladrins where you can find fey creatures.

Personally, I don't even know yet if I'll allow the Eladrin as a races. I don't know how to handle their Fey Step power.

I like and am using them as Aerenal Elves, just changed the flavor from Feywild to Shadowfel due to their death magic: Felstep instead of Feystep, Shadow[origin] instead of Fey[origin].
