Or, more specifically, would they at least resemble Sharn? |
| #2isran_imradorOct 12, 2008 15:02:43 | WOW cool Pics, That is Sharn but I have never seen them in anything official... Amazing.... Isran |
| #3ScrinoverlordOct 12, 2008 15:18:58 | The first one looks too... Corscuant-ish. |
| #4Montonius1Oct 12, 2008 16:37:33 | The first picture is actually the cover of one of the novels. Of the two, I find the second one to be a far more realistic depiction of the Sharn as described in the Campaign Setting and sourcebooks. The first picture depicts a basically science-fiction city of skyscrapers, more Coruscant, as you said, than Eberron. For pity's sake, the buildings are made of metal and have electric lights! Sharn is described as a distinctly medieval/renaissance-era city of towers and castle-like stone constructions and that is definitely what I see in the second picture. As to official recognition, well the first picture is the cover of one of the novels, but other than the airship, the artist did a ****-poor job of actually rendering the city as it is described. |
| #5NivedOct 12, 2008 16:41:43 | The first one is the cover of the novel Rise of the Seventh Moon which was Book Three of the Heirs of Ash Trilogy and is indeed an official Eberron Product (also my desktop wallpaper right now but that's beside the point) The art is by Philip Straub, who to be fair, is more of a sci-fi artist. The second image is a Wizards of the Coast image but its not Sharn it predates Eberron its from Magic the Gathering, its Ravncia, the city of guilds. I believe that piece is done by Richard Wright You might want to take a look at this thread though which has discussion on how Sharn looks and has plenty of real world and fantasy pictures on it for inspiration. |

| #7wedOct 21, 2008 18:28:41 | Hey! I haven't seen this before. This pictures are from my blog (thanks for posting them here!!). As I said there (it's in spanish...) I don't know for sure if they are from Sharn (Iv'e read in a post before that one of them is for sure Shanr), I found them looking for something else on the net and I didn't remember where and after I've never been capable of founding them again... But if they are not Sharn... they are quite good, don't you think? |
| #8the_simple_seeker_iiOct 25, 2008 0:03:16 | Those are great drawings... Incredible. |
| #9twinbahamutOct 26, 2008 22:17:22 | The first image is the kind of thing that should have been in the ECS, or at least in the Sharn sourcebook. A huge problem with the depicitions of Sharn in most of the Eberron product line, or any Eberron city for that matter, is that there are no good "skyline" images that really show you what the city looks like. It really is a nice image. |
