Mar 26, 2010 17:19:38 Anyone know if WoTC is planning on making these aytime soon? We don't use the Character Builder, so if someone wants to play an artificer, cards would make it easier.

At this time, there does not seem to be anything in the works. I think they are abandoning that particular product line in favor of other products, but don't take my word for that

A quick Google search turns up power cards for the Artificer, though not by WotC. I'm not linking it though, since it could be stepping on some toes.

1) Wizards is still selling the things. So any distribution method besides that product is probably bordering on infringement. Even if they have not announced future releases.
2) Besides that fact, power cards copy pieces of text from Wizards copyrighted material with the sole purpose of informing the user of the mechanic associated with that piece of text. Since the purpose can only be derived from that small bit of text and they're copied completely, they don't count as citation (same as you're not allowed to copy haiku's under the excuse of citation).

Anyway, this is becoming a legal argument for which I'm not equipped :P I'm mostly wondering if our topic starter has solved his woes yet.

Apr 06, 2010 22:03:39 No, sadly. You can use the CB demo to print blank power cards, so the 'fill in your own' method might have to suffice if someone really wants to play one.

Apr 07, 2010 18:44:04 One thing you could do is subscribe for a single month of DDI (9.95 USD I think?) and install the character builder (you are allowed five installs per month). You'll then be able to print power cards for everything published (books: up to the previous month, mags: up to the month before the previous).

It is cost effective. A single deck of cards costs 9.99 USD and does not update unless you buy expansion decks (which are published infrequently if at all, don't include Dragon content, etc.). The CB will set you back 9.95 USD (less per month if you subscribe for longer) plus the cost of printing the cards you need, but you will have access to a lot more than just the Artificer cards.

Also, the CB does not stop working after your subscription expires. You just won't be able to update it with new content or install it again (which sucks if you plan to change PCs or OS in the near future).
