| #2ozinozJun 11, 2008 23:04:05 | i really like it, though from reading some monster types i am not sure the acid damage should be random, maybe regular +5 acid damage per tier or in another direction use an area attack similar to that of the dragonborn with a high recharge (like 3 or 4) also any ideas on a magebreed template? |
| #3galoistheomnipotentJun 13, 2008 10:43:17 | Hello, I think that the random acid damage is correct. Usually, for basic attacks, we see non-typed damage + str mod (or whatever) + typed damage, UNLESS all the damage IS of a type. ex: 2d8 + 6 necrotic damage from the lich. All the damage is necrotic. 1d10 + 11 damage + 1d6 thunder damage. First part is untyped and the additionnal 1d6 is typed. For the idea of an area attack, I disagree. The natural weapons become acidic. It doesn't gain extra powers. For the magebred template, I'll do one if I need it in my campaign, which is a no for at least 5-6 months. Before that, we'll see magebreds somewhere. Also, now that I've read more stuff in the books, I think Horrid Animal shouldn't be a template. Cuz templates aren't what they used to be. Creatures become Elite with action points, double HPs, etc... A horrid rat should not have all this stuff. I haven't seen it in the DMG, but there should be Adjustment Templates (or whatever you'd call it) that wouldn't make a creature an elitist, but that would rise its level as described in the template, just like in ol' 3.5. Thanks for your comment! Galois PS: I have updated the template in the original post. I have lowered the AC bonus from +7 (+2 from elite +5 from 3.5 conversion) to +4 (+2 from elite to +2 for standard bonus and to reflect the horridification of the skeleton). Also corrected some typos. |

Maybe just a singular Interrupt attack or a burst one to spray out a little acid... Wait... I'm about to suggest dropping the acid motif and going straight to quills... Ya Quills. Per encounter area Needle sprays and interupts when the are targets of mellee attacks... |
