Feb 06, 2011 14:37:51 I'm trying to find infomation about the location of Broranel's large collection of children. I know that one lost an arm to one of the King's tigers, and that two are in Karrnath as part of a hostage exchange. Are the locations of his other children stated anywhere? Thanks.

Didn't he also lose a child when Cyre exploded? And he's worried that perhaps it was his own war efforts which caused that whole shennanigan, so he's super-sympathetic to New Cyre... Or something.

It's not a hostage exchange as much as it an "exchange student" program. Both Breland and Karrnath want peace with one another, so they've sent royalty from theor own lands into each others' for study, to attend court, and generally see what life is like. It's a sign of trust and a chance to better explore/understand the things you have in common.

You do realize that is just the PR? ;) In the end it is a hostage program, they are just being polite about it.

They are well treated and they go to school and appear at court and all that, but their presence is there to ensure the good behavior of the monarch's who sent them.

Thanks for the answers everyone. I had forgotten that Boranel lost a daughter in the Mourning. Guess I'll have to work up names and locations for the other kids.

All I knew is that f Broranel's son was in Karrnath studying. I did not know he had more children.

Feb 09, 2011 21:33:50 Most of it is in the 3.5 sourcebooks Five Kingdoms and Forge of War. According to Five Kingdoms Boranel has had eleven children. Two are in Karrnath. One is in Breland. One died in the Last War. The other seven are apparently unaccounted for in the source books.

If I recall correctly, it was his eldest daughter. Don't remember her name off the top of my head.

Incidentally, both Prince Halex and Princess Borina actually feature into the plot of The Darkwood Mask. Just sayin'.

Starts with an I (iirc), and was his favourite child, also the one best qualified to take over after Boranel dies. I believe more information is in Forge of War, but since I won't have access to my books for another two and a half months I can't check for you.
