I recently started a group and I'm just wondering a where to go from here kind of thing.

A week before the 1000th aniversary of the Day of Mourning. The group started by in an attempt to escape from whatever is chasing them jumping on and hiding in the lightning rail. There they met up fought off some Gaurds, eventually got kicked out into a swampy area stopped some kobolds from ressurecting their 'Diety' (something dragon based, was not origionally planning to have them resurrect a diety but it got the players hooked) and on their way out from the Kobold's cave encountered and rescued a unconsious Warforged, who was a servant of King Kaus XII (still the same guy as King Kaus III ect..). The warforged led them to his master (thankfully no one in my group knows he's a vampire). Kaus gave them a quest to find and eradicate some members of the Emerald Claw, because (or so he says) they are threatening his life and trying to assasinate him as they have is predicessors.

So they are off chasing after the cultists and after they eradicate them and go back to King Kaus my plot starts to run cold.

The players don't know, since I don't know how much they frequent the forums

Is that House Cannith and the Lord of Blades were trying to build a 'super'-warforged but something went wrong in both instances (miles from each other but almost instantaneously) and the Magical, and Chemical fallout ect loosened the band on Bel Shalor and with his coming to Eberron caused the blight known as the mournland.
I was thinking of tying that in with the story of the Silver Flame a Paladin and a couatl merged to stop a demonic overlord (Bel Shalor) from ecaping from Khyber. I was thinking about having some PC connection to that occurance wether them or someone they are close to (maybe if Kaus if he lives that long). I also want something special to happen on the 1000th anneversary like the blight extends through all of Khorvaire. That would kill everyone off but I thought what would happen (inspired by a kalshtar Bard's backstory) If they were protected by some being (maybe the Flame it self) because the party was part of some prophecy or something and they are integral to the survival Eberron.

i'm interested in how you think khorvaire has changed in the last millenium.  but other than that, i like it, particularly the kobolds trying to resurrect their 'deity'... a lord of dust? a daelkyr? something else?

Khorivare is in an uneasy peace they aren't actively building up armies or attacking each other but has become a more Spied on group, they don't want to go back to war with each other because of fear of agrivating the Mourning and they aren't following the exact same motives as their ancestors so now they are trying to control the continent economically and politcally and trying to get leverage over one leader and use that to their advantage. It's a lot of in the shadows activities. The Cyran's have been made to adapt into their new societies and have become 'accepted' as long as people aren't to hellbent on family pride.

There everyone has Eyes and Ears everywhere.

I have no idea what the kobolds were summoning it was a spur of the moment Kobolds are in on something as a creative hook spur of the moment thing. The could be summoning anything they want, but an answer has never been given to the PC's (mostly because I don't have one)

I think you have given yourself a lot of freedom but you should also consider changing the world a LOT. Most of the Eberron sourcebooks are set on or about the fourth anniversary of the Mourning, so you've advanced the timeline 1000 years. By that point Sharn could be in ruins, the Demon Wastes could have encompassed the Eldeen Reaches and the Riedran Empire might have fallen. There could be an organized and dangerous Drow empire on Xendrik, perhaps the only stable political entity left. Have the Daelkyr come and gone again? If so there could be a real post-apocalyptic feel. King Kaius might well be growing weary of his unlife after the millenia. Perhaps he is subconsciously trying to bring about his doom.

Also, as to the Emerald Claw and if your players are slightly familiar with what they represent in the traditional Eberron setting, you could have them actually have returned to their roots in the past 1000 years, having thrown out the bad elements and are now working to bring stability back to Khorvaire.

It sounds like a really interesting concept! Enjoy.

Indeed.  For some idea, read back 1000 years in Eberron's history and look at how different it was then from how it is in the standard setting.  Hell, look how different our world was in the year 1010.  Extrapolate that degree of difference for your setting.  Hell, my players' party has gone forward 160 years and the world's a frelling mess; Droaam and Darguun have expanded and now border each other at the Dagger River, the Reaches are the stalking grounds of countless aberrations, Karrnath is a land of the dead which wakes at night to feed on the subjugated citizens of Aundair, and... well, you get the idea.  My players read these boards, and there are yet surprises in store for them.

The point is that time changes everything.  To have so much time pass without the world being wholly different... well, it seems kind of like a cheat.  You wouldn't expect two places at opposite ends of the world to be virtually identical, so why expect the same place to be virtually identical at opposite ends of a millennium?

Side note: I gave Kaius the offical title of 5th (i hadn't given him a suffix before) because I brought an end to his family line during the 1000 years.

Thanks everyone for the input! I really appreciate it. I went and put together a little timeline, Korvaire has now changed a lot! most of it doesn't exist anymore but here is my timeline
