Campaign Twist

Hi All,

Ive been running a game for my son and his friends in a homebrew world for some time and they are all nearly level 4. The problem is that im struggling to draw out the RP from them and part of that is not having an affinity to the world (On both their's and may part). I have run and played Eberron many, many times and i think this might be my lifesaver with all of its hooks etc to draw out the RP (even in a limited fashion to start with). Ive decided to try and run a huge twist that results in them being in Eberron perhaps just discarded and unconcious on a city street (Stormreach or Sharn perhaps) with limited knowledge of how or why they are there.

Has anyone ever tried this and or has anyone any suggestions for this idea ?

I know of someone who has done this. From what I've heard, it didn't so much change the campaign into an Eberron one. It made it into a Planescape one, where the players wondered which world they were heading to next.

One suggestion is to ship them off on a slaver's ship to Xen'drik with the serial numbers filed off. That huge jungle continent? It was always there, and now you're there. I'm sure you could limit the campaign to Xen'drik, right?

I like the slave ship idea. Limiting it to Xen'drik is no problem at all. One idea i had was that up to this point there current 'adventures' and background were all in their minds and they were in fact victims of some Quorri experiments involving eldritch machines. This could also nicely link to Xen'Drik and slaves ships im sure !

Well, what qualities of Eberron do you like? Also, what's your homebrew world like? Is it possible that it was in the Eldeen Reaches all along?

Thats an easy question... i like all things Eberron. The Eldeen Reaches is an option along with any other dense wilderness area.

I'm concerned about forcing RP out of young players if that's not what they're up for at the moment. I've tried playing with my kid while still at the age at which the PC is invincible and can solve every problem with new and exciting powers that show up whenever they are needed. Rather than try to force my kid to play the game that I want to run, I run the style game that is wanted and we have a blast.

Dont be too concerned. Firstly they arn't overly young (13) but also they also feel the same way. I have a mixed bag of players. 3 really want to learn more of the RP aspects, 1 is pretty gung ho and 1 is undecided.
