| #1DargurdApr 24, 2010 15:26:25 | Hi All, Ive been thinking about running a game in Sarlona, specifically the Forest of Lurking Shadows. Can anyone give me any advice on running a campaign in this region. I've only previously run campaigns in Karrnath and Sharn so its going to be very different and im not sure quite how to make it work. Regards... |

I think that the player character selection in term of race, place of origin can make a big impact on such a campaign (allot more then it does in a Khorvairan or Xen'drik set campaign). There is the path of inspiration racial hierarchy and the general bias of the Nulakeshi to nonhumans (which in Nulakesh extends to shifters too) which going to dominate any PC-NPC interaction in the campaign. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to limit the player selection: you can be a dragonmarked house Cannith heir hiding in the forest from the Harmonious Shield soldiers after escaping captivity in a mind-seeded forgehold aided by a human-Elan psion which begin to doubt his devotion to the Inspired found by a Phiarlan elf on an espionage mission with his invisible airship sent to locate the forgehold. a Tiefling wizard member of the Heirs of Ohr Kaluun seeking to prove himself to his superiors by stealing the forgehold secrets (thank Hellcow for the mind-seeded forgehold idea btw). |

You could, but let's face it - haven't we all seen that story a few too many times? ![]() |

I haven't lol ! It does sound like it could be fun ! I do own Secrets of Sarlona and i was looking through at the suggested PC races. There are a lot that have not yet been converted over to 4ed - anyone know if there are any plans to do so ? |

Hi Hellcow - thanks for advice. I also thought that Goliath could also be used for Half Giants. Im kind of hoping that WOTC has some plans somewhere (probably in Dragon) to release all the races from the 3.4 Psionics Handbook e.g. Dromites etc. |

With Dark Sun merging the Goliath with Half-Giants, it seems to me that it would be easiest to do the same with the Goliath in Eberron. Eneko might be represented by Heritage Feats for the Goliath, if someone still wanted to play one. |
| #10superdeadsmurfApr 28, 2010 17:43:31 | I would support heritage feats for Half-Giant or Eneko Goliaths. Though looking at the 3.5 Stat blocks for both, really Half-giants and Eneko were very similar anyway - both were strong and hardy with powerful build and ways of protect themselves from the elements. main differences were half-giants had Stomp, and eneko had a few abilities that made them better rangers or at least rangery themed. I'd suggest something like this: Eneko Bow Training Prerequisite: Goliath Race You gain proficiency with the short bow and long bow, and you get a +2 feat bonus to damage with bows. |
| #11HellcowApr 28, 2010 17:51:18 | Eneko Bow Training Given that Goliaths don't make ideal ranged rangers (due to the lack of a Dex bonus), I'd probably be willing to make it "proficiency with all bows" and the +2 feat bonus to damage... so you get to use a Greatbow and hit hard with it, but you're not as accurate as the elf. But that's just what I'd do in my campaign... not necessarily what's balanced. If I did limit it to military bows, I'd probably make the feat bonus scale with level (like Goliath Greatweapon Prowess). |
| #12DoctorBadWolfMay 02, 2010 3:59:22 | How about the non special version of the feat, and then another feat similar to the Goliath Assassin feat? Add str mod to quarry damage with an attack using a bow? |
