Can I "safely" use 3.5e Eberron material (e.g. "fluff") for a 4e campaign?

Sep 20, 2010 20:48:03 I have quite a few 3.5e Eberron books, but we have converted to 4e and aren't looking back. Is there a FAQ on using the 3.5e books with 4e? From a narrative perspective are there any big inconsistencies I need to watch out for? Other than maybe the Eladrin spires?

I know that as DM I'm free to tweak the reality of my version of Eberron as I see fit, but I don't want to paint myself into corners using material from both versions.

Anyone familiar enough with both to give me a little advice?

Sep 20, 2010 21:05:53 Nothing major, no. There was no timeline advancement or anything like that. The vast majority of the fluff should be useable regardless of edition.

Sep 20, 2010 21:11:14 I got the impression that 4e added in stuff they needed to in order to support the new player races (such as tieflings and eladrin) and had to condense all of the source materials into two books worth of stuff. So you're save using anything from you 3.5 books.

Sep 20, 2010 21:24:12 All the fluff still works. Things have been added and quite a few things have been fleshed out pretty well, to a degree that quite a few people had wanted in the beginning. But the setting itself really hasn't changed at all.

Sep 21, 2010 6:26:08 Most of the fluff from 3.5e dovetails quite well into 4e. It's only once you start mixing the mechanics of NPC's or PrC with 4e that you come across problems (this often relates to organisations that tie into PrC presented in 3.5e).

Take an hour or three and you can clean things up nicely (especially with all the nice crunchy Dragon articles).
