I put my campaign on hiatus and started a new one in the meantime, but when my game comes back we're going to Stormreach. I'd like to know if the update to City of Stormreach is going to be available when the 4th edition Eberron Campaign Guide comes out or sometime after.
Not much is known beyond that other than they are presumably still planning on honoring their commitment.
However I'd imagine that on the grand list of priorities versus new books and magazine content it probably gets shelved more often than now causing a slow development time sadly. I'm annoyed about it too, but hey there is no reason you can't use CoT for a 4th edition game now, I do. Granted I don't really need the mechanics none of my players have expressed any interest in joining any of the organizations and most of the monsters and NPCs are easy swap outs... its not like most of the NPCs had stats beyond race, class, and level anyway.
If someone drops the ball, there's always a certain Infernal Bovine who comes to help or simply offer input.

I see I'm not the only one "confused" by this whole PDF thing... And on the note of the "conversions" I have somewhat given up on them. In my mind it was more of a marketing "stunt" to get people to buy the last two books rather than anything else...
Plus I think I understand about the whole PDF thing. I know folks that got illegal copies or bought a copy and gave it out to hteir buds. That is alot of dough that WOTC could have had but in this economy people are looking for any deal they can. If WOTC can sell their books on their site and figure out a way to stop the illegal copies that is great. It would be better if when they sold them online it was at halfprice or something also.
I doubt we'll ever hear anything about it... ever... like that Tome of Battle Eberron Expanded article Keith said he wrote and turned in that never ever saw the light of day.

People who pirated the books will continue to pirate the books. People who bought the PDFs may now choose to pirate the books.

Two points:
1) That isn't their stated aim for removing the PDFs from the online stores. So if this is true, they're outright lying once more.
2) What part of WotC's digital endeavours makes you think they'll actually manage to sell the PDFs? First they had advertisements in the 4th ed books for services that have yet to materialise. Second they can't even produce a PDF to convert the crunch from a fluff-heavy book to 4th ed.
I'm with Rauric on this one. I have great use for most of my books still. Most of them are as stated hundreds of times over and over again on these boards quite fluff heavy and light on the actual mechanics.
Oh sure. I bought the book literally days ago knowing full well WotC probably isn't going to honour their promise. But I get annoyed when a company lies to me. Its one of the few things a company can do to make me angry.
Like my sig says, I worry about spots on my x-rays not this stuff. As long as my wife is not lying to me I don't give a fig. Breathing air is all that matters.:D

But all jokes aside, I don't really care about delayed or never coming updates any more. I spent a good time of my teenage years waiting for videogames that never really got out. I mean, its not like wizards have monopoly on that kind of stuff. Sure its annoying as hell, but its not worth all the stress. So I'm in Raurics boat here, and besides, there is nothing stopping you from stopping to buy 4th ed books. After all, its the only answer they understand, us not buying their stuff. Personally I'm just not angry enough to even consider it, (although I feel it's building).

I wasn't actually planning on buying any of their 4th ed PDFs. What I was planning on doing was buying any Eberron books I couldn't get my hands on ;) Now I'll just have to hope that Amazon's customers aren't big fans of 3.5e Eberron books.
To anyone who says they don't care anymore, that's nice. But I want my advertised support for this book, as I plan on running a campaign out of Stormreach. Sure I can just make up my own stats for everyone and everything in the book, but you could make the same argument to make all DnD books going forward nothing but fluff and leaving it up to you to make your own mechanics for it.
City of Stormreach was supposed to be edition proof. It was supposed to have 4e support. I want it.
