Probably opening up a can of worms here I should just leave alone but since I'm just getting into Eberron in preparation for what'll probably be a long run campaign I have to ask...

The novel is supposed to take place days after Cyre's destruction yet it's date stamped 996 YK. Error?

Also, it's a long long walk to Sharn.

Wow, who would have thought it was that pricey.....have you checked your local bookstore? I usually see The Shattered Land (and maybe Gates of Night) in there....

Those are expensive as well. I will call around town a little, but I haven't had much luck for Eberron novels in the past. Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Jan 16, 2010 20:58:05 To the original question, the Mourning occured on 994 YK; the war didn't officially come to an end until 996, and it's at that point that the book properly begins with everyone trudging to Sharn. They are supposed to have spent intervening time exploring the Mournland, regrouping with other Cyran survivors, and trying to survive at a time when the war was in theory still going on. As of 996, it's clear that the war is over, so they've split with whoever they'd been with in order to pursue their own destiny. They've been roughing it for a while, though.

Unfortunately, due to a hard drive crash, I don't have a copy of the novel on my computer, so I can't speak to exactly how I meant this to be clear.

I'm sorry it's so difficult to find copies of the books. I wish I had more myself. I will say that the Thorn series (Queen of Stone, Son of Khyber) is still in print, so hey, you can always pick those up.
