In my next campaign I want to play a character who is a survivor of Cyre. the personality and stuff is based on mad max.
my original plan was to have him wield a sword and crossbow using TWF.
on another thread located here
so now I'm in a rut, and slowly getting bummed out about this character, which I don't want to happen I want to Be EXCITED about being able to play one of my favorite (anti)heroes. so can someone help salvage this character and put him up to his former badass glory that was the original concept. oh also (can't believe I forgot to mention this earlier and don't feel like going back and retyping) he has a heavy war horse that I plan on making my animal companion using this
so the original plan requires TWF feats, Archery feats, and mounted feats, and EWP feat(s), and any other feats I might need.
This game is of course in Ebberon. Since he wandered out of Cyre/mournland and went into the dessert he has a good amount of desert equipment. The sword i had him originally using was a great scimitar. he also has a hydration suit and light armor.
so far the best combo I could come up for this was Fighter/Scout

In the game we are allowed to get character flaws for bonus feats. We are also using Gestalt rules. So any help in salvaging this or pointing out problems or just saying how awesome this concept is(I could definately use an ego boost right now) would be nice.

First things first: it's "Cyran," not... whatever that word was that you used.

You're going to need to use a hand crossbow if you want to attempt to dual-wield, since even a light crossbow is a two-handed weapon. IIRC, that will require Exotic Weapon Proficiency (hand crossbow).

Alternatively, you could consider a wand of scorching ray in the off-hand. You would need Use Magic Device to use it, though...

Oh! I've got it! If you have access to Complete Arcane, you could grab a level of Warmage, which gives you the ability to cast spells while wearing light armor, and the ability to use the wand when your spells run out. And the spells you'll be casting are great offensive spells like magic missile and true strike.

This is what the description of the Repeating crossbow says and I just checked the Errata and didn't find anything to the contrary, so if you want you can check the errata too just in case I missed something.

Crossbow,Repeating (skipping to the part about # of hands required, because I'm not going to type out the entire bloody entry {read in english voice[Preferably John Cleese]})
"you can fire a reapeating crossbow with one hand or fire a repeating crossbow in each hand in the same manner as you would a normal crossbow of the same size, however you need 2 hands to use the lever"

there it is

and I heard somewhere that it was cyrulian. Cyran sounds much more likely though

Ah, yes, the repeating crossbow is a variation on the hand crossbow if I'm not mistaken. It's a good thing you chose that one, though, since most other crossbows don't work well with things like Rapid Shot and Manyshot due to reload times.

This might be a bit difficult to pull off given the number of feats you're going to need for this build, but have you considered Artificer as a class? Mad Max was a bit of a gearhead, wasn't he? (It's been a while since I've seen the movie, sorry.)

that... that is something I did not consider. hmm. hmm. that would work out nicely. explosive runes on my horse. so if u try to... i don't know... steal his blood or something he explodes. that would make vampires very dangerous while I'm mounted or within 100 feet of my horse. artificer would work out. fighter/scout allows for the feats and skills needed (survival for one) but fighter artificer allows for the feats i need (albeit at a slower pace) and allows me to simulate max's mechanical knowhow. I'm sure I can convince Erik to allow me to have the class skills of a ranger or something instead of the fighters class skills, since he was in the dessert for the past few years. thus survival would be something he obviously got.
when it come to the gear head part of things, it gets interesting for two reasons
1. he has a tighter bond with his wheels (read hooves) than in the movies
2. the horse takes the place of the usual pet he always seems to pull out of his butt before each movie
3. horses are alive
#1+2 can be easily ignored because they don't matter much anyway
#3 is interesting. I'm gonna have to find what books have grafts and work on designing new magic items and effects for magic Items to put on me horse.
In the end My horse might look like the Ebberon equivalent of the 6 million GP horse.

6 Million Gold Piece Horse
bionic legs
searing ray eyes
30 foot cone of shocking damage (coming from a horse, this is shocking. yes writhe in agony from the pun)
rocket launchers stuck in it's ***
gold plated
hydraulics

but seriously
I'm open to suggestions for new items and effects and grafts and things I could Upgrade the horse with

Upgrades
wings
bionic legs
upgraded hoof damage
various upgrades to bodily functions (like endurance you pervert)

No, the repeating crossbow is a reproduction of a Chinese device, a light crossbow with a lever that is used to crank back the string and drop a fresh bolt into place as a single motion. Needless to say you need one hand to point the bow and the other to operate the lever.

I would say scout would definately be a workable class for a 'mad max', and combining with fighter will give you heaps of feats (if you were multi-classing rather than gestalting I would say ranger, but fighter works better with gestalt). You won't get an 'authentic' mad max, but you will get a workable D&D character.

Hmmm ... here is thought: pick up Dragonmarked and take a look at the Cyre Scout PrC, if you have the Mark of Making it looks very worthwhile, if your DM allows it in a Gestalt game.

after a bit of planning and scheming and movie watching I have now nailed down my character partly

armor- light

weapons- 2x very light (1d6 vs. 1d8) bladed (1d4 damage blade) repeating crossbows. with a small elemental bound to it so it pulls it cocks itself. all I have to do is reload every 5 shots. so in effect i have a pair of semi-automatic crossbows with bayonets. benefitover 1 crssbw and 1 great scimitar- regained a feat.

dragonmark- my Dm wanted us to either start with a dragonmark or plant to take a Drg mrk PrC. so I made my own aberrant dragonmark.
Mark of Sand
this mark gives control over sand and other various forms of loose dirt to an extent. higher lv. = more control.

mount- magebred heavy warhorse. also will be my animal companion

Role- Badass

Proffesional role- ranged support

Tactics
ride around on my horse while launching bolts at the enemy. eventually i'll get magic items for both me and my horse. my main priority for items is to aquire a clip of unending bolts. (think bag of holding except it's a clip for me crossbow), and maybe bladed horse shoes to improve my horses attack. once my horse is well equipped for combat my tactics will slightly change. I will still shoot bolts at the enemy while I attack with my horse.
