There is a great scene in one of Keith Baker's first trilogy books, where the kalashtar Lakashtai shows Dain how the inquisition against her people was started - a memory of her spirit. The scene is impressively written, our best glimbse at Dol Quor so far, and our best show of what people might expect of planes. For that reason, I wonder whether there is any spell that does this - reach into people's minds and play them the actor's memories. As a Kalashtar character, I'd like to be able to do ths to teach people (inlcuding young kalashtar) about their history, but also invent tales and share them via mindlinks (if thoughtsinging is Kalashtar song, pseudodream projection might be their theatre), and also to mentally pass on details of the enemy fortification and play out an attack plan in the safety of a hotel inn (where only the instigator gets to move the characters to lead the through various stratgic points), and finally to implant knowldege about the neighbourhood to a newcomer.
The closest I've come up with is False Visionary Input, but that pales to the theatralical possibilities her. Note, I should here ask a Will: negages (harmless).
Now, if you haven't read the books yet, stop reading, this and buy the book. Then come back to discuss,
Beware, there be spoilers in the spoiler box. There is a curse against those who open the spoiler box when they have not read the book yet, for thye shall take less enjoyment in the suspense around Daine and his companions.
Show Once i found out who Laksahstai really was, I assume it was Dream. A Kalashtar could not have cast it; they have barred themselves even from the fringes of Dal Quor. An Inspired, however, could easily do this, especially one strong enough to remove a mindseed. |

In this case, your spolier-box conclusion is correct. I'd have to go back through sourcebooks to see if I could find something as an alternative, and I don't have the time to do that right now. However, if it was ME, given that it's a cosmetic effect, I'd personally just let you do it as a story-driven augmentation of mindlink, along the effects of: you can only do it to a willing person you have a friendly relationship with; it's limited by distance; spend (however many) PP to expand the mindlink to an image.

I expected this to be the case. I like how you write your stories and still stay within what's mechanically possible (I love the Thorn's introduction in the Greywall tavern), so I was sure there was something like this happening with the Dal Quor exposition as well.
Using it as a cosmetic effect of mindlink sounds interesting. It also appears that kalashtar can create dreamshards which, if I understand the correctly, can pass on dream-like visions to other psionic characters (and basic emotions to others): was it you who wrote the kalasthar section of Races of Eberron? Perhaps the technique would be similar, except that, instead of channeling the visions into a crystal, the dreamshaper projects it straight into the mind of a willing creature who stays still for long enough. Otherwise, all I'd come up with is false sensory input (except that the description specifies you can't create a sensation where none exists) or possibly psionic modify memory (with a custom augment that allows it to implant more than 5 minutes). I believe I have read somewhere about a spell or power which can pass memories on to a different character, but I can't seem to find it.
Without giving away too much to those who haven't read the books, what did 4E change about dragons? Incidentally - you're probably hearing this a lot - here's hoping for more novels relating to your Eberron characters. We've got some cliffhangers! Not that you are lacking things to do, with your projects.
