#1 vigilant1 Mar 26, 2009 22:30:08	One of the races in the Dragon Magazine Compendium was the Diabolus. Contrary to their names, they have no ties with the Devils, and are creatures of the chaotic subtype. According to the given flavor text, they were originally from the Region of Dreams, but escaped to the material plane because of constant fighting with the denizens of the Far Realm. Since both these planes of exist played important roles in the Eberron setting, and are now cut off from the world, I was wondering if the given flavor text would be appropriate. One idea I had was that the Diaboli are actually the Quori that came into conflict with the giants of Xen'Drik, and they entered the material plane due to a Xoriat invasion. This could also be used to explain why Dal Quor is in the state it currently is, and why the Quori have such Lovecraftian appearances.

I've played them in another homebrew campaign setting after reading them in Dragon Magazine and the subsequent compendium (Note: They're supposed to have an LA +1, according to the Paizo folks). For Eberron, I chose to make them refugees from a world previously destroyed by the daelkyr. They fled to this world and hid in a demiplane embedded deep in Khyber. In some sense, they inadvertently brought the daelkyr to Eberron as the daelkyr followed them. When the daelkyr came to Eberron, they were so intrigued by Eberron that they completely ignored the remaining diaboli and began their work again.
