| #1rageofthemodrons101May 27, 2008 21:23:10 | Much Like Revvcor's article on Q'Barra (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=876788) I intend to do the same for Adar. This thread is Adar creative content. Weapons, People, plots, anything you want. Here's the first to go: In Southern Adar, the waters are turbulent, the seas are sailed by hordes of deadly pirates and beasts, making it one of the most treacherous places to traverse. However, as a nation of refugees, it demands a steady supply of trade, so much occurs over the sea. Many sailors are simple traders, however, a certain few demand reputations as pirates, smugglers, and crafty seasmen. The most well known in Dvaarnava is the Winged Bandit, a relatively small ship captained by Vallyl Shenther (CN Male Half-elf Swashbuckler 3/Rogue 2), a sly half-elf who earns his trade as a swift smuggler. He ferries goods and people for organizations such as the Dream Merchants and the Summit Road, while avoiding the unwavering gaze of the Thousand Eyes and their agents. Because Vallyl is wanted dead or alive in Dar Jin and by many Pirates and Reidran agents in Dvaarnava, he keeps a close eye in port, usually quick and thorough with his work. He is usually more comfortable at sea than on land. The Black Goddess is a large, mysterious warship hailing from Ohr Kaluun. It is owned by the Heirs of Ohr Kaluun. While the dark Kaluunites seek to destroy the power in Riedra, they know that the Inspired are struggling to gain hold of Adar and seek to influence the large center of trade to gain support against the Riedrans. The ship routes between Ruukosi and Dvaarnava, but spends most of its time in the latter. Its large, foreboding black sail casts mystery over the port dwellers. The Goddess' Captain Gaeltyx (CE Male Dwarf Warlock 8/Swordsage 1). His first mate is Draal (NE Male Human Hexblade 2/Fighter 1). Most others on the ship are CE Human Rogue 1/Fighter 2. The ships hull holds a number of hidden skulks, in case Riedran agents blow their cover and battle begins. The Demon's Gale is the most well known pirate ship in Adar. A large dhow under command of Sedursa (CN Female Tiefling Rogue 5/Fighter 1/Swashbuckler 4), the Demon's Gale invokes fear into the hearts of pirates. The Demon's Gale is known for its speed and uncanny evasion. Sedursa's main targets are the Dream Merchants. She takes the goods and sells them through agents in Ardhmen and Adaran ports. She knows the Merchants are afraid to report to authorities for fear of losing their illegal operations. Her crew is merciless and has no pity for smugglers, though she knows to avoid the occasional warship or refugee ferry. |
| #2elrodianMay 28, 2008 18:14:02 | ok so i do not have the Secrest of Sarlona (do you think i should) so if this is wrong sorry Adar is a nation of open plains and mountains. I has small towns and has only one captal. The city is set in the center of the nations and is the center of tarde. The city is a large city that is centered aroud the palaces of the elders. This palaces is were the elders of Adar live and hold meets to talk about the nation. Is is surrounded by gardens and pools of water were they and the people of the city can sit, read, and think about life. Then a street surronds the gardens, with four main streets comeing out and ends at the four gates in the city outer wall. The city has two rings. The first wall is full of parks, libaries, temples markets, shops and the houses of the people in the city. The second is were nthe trading objects are made. Out side of the city there are farms. |

For the most part Adar is an in almost impossible to enter country of high mountains and hidden valleys. And being a nation of fugitives from Riadeira and the often harsh weather a lot of towns are carved into the mountainside for better protection against the elements and attacks. (once more I'm not currently near any books so I'm not really sure). Now for the text, I really like the town you are describing, and even though the capitol has already been revealed the country is large enough to place the city you are describing somewhere else. After all it is a huge mountain area and there should be plenty of valleys to fit this city. And as a little more help on the way, here is the maps over Sarlona |

| #5skrap-sanMay 29, 2008 17:19:26 | I am currently at my parents house far far from the book so this is only in what I remember. Adar is a mountain country with fierce winds sharp peaks and quiet peaceful valleys. A natural border around the country that is really hard to penetrate no matter what way you try. The sea is full of reefs, the mountains are always harsh. And there is a "clan" of blue dragons who is rumoured to live up in the mountains and protect the borders. There is also a huge magic bubble around the nation preventing any kind of teleport inside, cant remember if it stops teleportation outwards. This shield is held up with a number of temples that constantly feed a crystal psionic energy. The nation does mostly consist of Khalashtar and Humans, the nation has been a refugee for people who are fugitives from Riadeira for many many years, even before the Khalashtar came. This means that some of them might be criminals, others left in fear of being killed for other reasons. As a people they value a simple lifestyle with a focus on the people around them. Thats all I remember for now, hope it helps your writing. |
| #6mystrichMay 29, 2008 21:21:41 | Speaking of statting places, does anyone have the archive of the old thread that gave a more detailed description of each plane by users? |
| #7skrap-sanMay 30, 2008 16:17:58 | I would be happy if we could dig up the goblinoid thread. |
| #8rageofthemodrons101Jun 01, 2008 11:06:32 | Adar has a few different cities, some controlled by Xephs, Dromites, Kalashtar and humans. A common misconception is that Kalashtar are the only ones who live in Adar, but a healthy population of humans live there as well. |
| #9rageofthemodrons101Jun 01, 2008 11:08:45 | Get Secrets of Sarlona. It is a very useful book. However, my advice, don't start a campaign in Sarlona. Your group should get to Sarlona midway through a campaign. |
