More details? Are the PCs monsters? PHB-race characters fighting in Droaam?

Considerations:
-House Tharashk handles mercenary work in Droaam through their ties to orc culture.
-Droaam has been harrassing Breland for a while now, they might spark another war.
-Looking at monstrous sub-cultures within Droaam (Znir pact, Harpy Flights, etc.) could be interesting.

Some places to look:
-The Queen of Stone by Keith Baker takes place within Droaam.
-The Dragon Below trilogy by Don Bassingthwaite passes through Droaam and involves a lot of Monstrous characters.

You really need to start offering more opinions and ideas yourself, since we have nothing to work with right now besides "PC's are monsters and they're mercenaries in Droaam". With no input from your side, it's as if we're creating your campaign for you. In that case, buy a prefab.

Besides that point, it could be interesting if you gave the PC's at lower level all kinds of different jobs, set to emphasize doing anything for money. Start off with a nice protection or rescue job, making them believe that they're not that bad. Then twist their beliefs upside down when they're assigned to attack a village for no reason than their employee wants them off their land. That should give them a feel for being monsters and a mercenary.

If you're into novels, read Keith Baker's first Thorn of Breland book titled "The Queen of Stone." It took place in Droaam and had a lot of different NPC's you could work with. It was a particularly easy read too. Hell, i'd even start the campaign out with the PC's being hired to guard one the of caravans and then being hired to discover some of the plot elements of the novel, using the novel as a backdrop. Map out the progression of the novel over the few days it takes, allow the novel to resolve with your PC's in their own web of the tale, and there you go.

Well I have kinda had my campaign hijacked by the players, and I think it is a good thing. It is making me adjust and think on my feet. The campaign was written to center on the Korrenberg Library. However, because I give my players pretty much a free rein in their character creation, the party is made up of two goblins and two Monitors. And the first chance I provided the headed to Droaam... So I am busy re-writing and adjusting. But it is all good because I think Droaam is facinating and will be fun to build the campaign around.

Yes well hijacking is what we do.  As he told us last night we broke the module, and I couldn't feel better about it lol.  It's going really well and since it is Droaam there's a strong feeling of a very different game than one normally finds with DnD.  Just curious what our new party memeber will be bring to the table in a few weeks.  Should be good stuff as we watch and try figure out which character is the nuttiest.

Another secret win for the Trust. ;)

I started my campaign with the players traveling to Graywall doing extensive use of the Graywall Backdrop article and it was great:

- House Orien teleported them into an old abandoned station which in now part of "Little Graywall" (and they immediately got into trouble with the locals).

- They watched goblins,ogres,minotours... workers cooperate in building the city walls.

- a changeling changing her body as he dance the ward's gate.

- passed by Dark Six shrines and strange worshipers.

- got arrested by the Flayer Guard, trialled by a Medusa magistrate (nobody committed perjury in that trial) - a nice skill challenge.

- a skirmish with a royal eyes of Aundair agent in the Twilight Palace.

- fought and won in the Graywall arena

- escaped Droaam, the PCs vowing never to return...

But the players had fun.
