Primarily it seems really easy to just change around the skill bonuses each race gains and you've got a completely different feel for a familiar race. Probably just as easy is changing the at will powers a race may possess or the feat bonuses. Biggest that springs to mind is probably moving the half-elves diplomacy bonus over to the gnomes and simply replacing with a different skill bonus. |

Tieffers are going to be from that one Sarlona countiy that made pacts and stuff before the Quori took over. |

The idea being that now when tiefling's sleep they project their dreams into some other plane to avoid the quori and depending on which plane they project themselves into effects their personality. Gives sufficient reason for there not to be a huge central community of them in one location and makes them feel like they've got a story in Eberron. As for the dragonborn my first thought is to place them as some of the first druids, perhaps spawn of Vvaraak. Though thinking about it I might like to use the idea that the Sovereigns are all just ascended dragons and cast the dragonborn as the chosen clerics of the sovereign host. Obviously I wouldn't want them in every single church across Khorvaire, but certainly it would make some sense in most of the holy sites of Argonnessen to have a dragonborn tending to the area. They'd probably feature heavily in Io'vakar (hopefully that's the one that didn't get destroyed). Or throw feathers on them and make them them descendants of coatls. Perhaps something that expressed in dragon eggs which coatls had been around which could lead rise to the reason coatls stayed primarily in Sarlona and dragons in Argonnessen. Eventually played out to the reason dragons tend to avoid Sarlona because there's a high chance that creatures who aren't true dragons will hatch from eggs there. And I guess my thought process on the ability to change races to fit the world is that all of the races look to have about the same type of abilities. A couple stat bonuses, a couple skill bonuses and some other stuff which seems so far to be roughly analogous in strength. In my mind this makes it pretty easy to take a skill bonus from one race and switch it with another race's skill bonus without unbalancing things. It lets the DM change the flavor without making overpowered or underpowered races. |
