Eberron Campaign Help

I have been tinkering around with an Eberron campaign for some time now. I have a good idea what I would like my players to accomplish but I need some help with some 'background' noise, as it were.

While the main action is going on, I would like news filtering in about what is going on in the rest of Khorvaire around them. This main plot will mostly center in a static location, so I figure this is the best way to give them a bit of realism.

I would like some ideas on what Khorvaire could be going through twenty years after the war has ended. Who is planning to make the first move? Has Borenel died? What is happening in Breland if so? Anything you guys can think of that might have happened in the last twenty years since the end of The Last War.

One thing I know for certain, Valenar has stated a war with Darguun wanting to gauge the effectiveness of the goblinoid empire. A strange plague has struck the Valenar in the midst of their victory and now they have lost nearly half of their population and are in dire need of allies or will be overrun by the goblinoids. Secretly, House Deneith has been helping the goblinoids in hopes they will join with Deneith in a campaign to take over the crown of Galifar.
House Lyrandar has secretly been helping it's Elven kin.

Any other strange or not so strange happenings, I would be welcome to any and all of your ideas. Thank You.

If you're setting it 20 years later, that means a lot of those princes and princesses exchanged at the end of the Last War should be coming into power, if they haven't already. This has big implications for Karrnath (will Kaius step aside, rule from the shadows, or come out?) and Breland (Boranel has almost certainly died, giving the Parliamentarians their chance to act-- what was the result?).

Another issue is that the survivors of the Mourning will be 20 years older, and an entire generation will have come of age without setting foot in Cyre. Did the refugees ever find a home, or just start building where they landed?

On the other hand, for long-lived folks like the Valenar, the Mror dwarves, and the hags of Droaam (though maybe not their followers) 20 years is a blip. Two decades won't have changed them much... but that is long enough for some of their post-war schemes to start flowering (Aurum? Daask?).

Here's some rather obvious ideas. I'm not sure which country your game is set, so here's a few:
* Boranel died and Breland entered into a 3-part civil war (with the parliamentarians and lords seeking control of the nation while the people from New Cyre seek to carve out a nation of their own). I'm not sure how old he is, so if its been more then 5 years since his death, they've entered into a ceasefire but it is extremely uneasy and there are constant famines in the region.
* The Warforged in Thrane and Karrnath one day drop their tools and simply walk off. The people who try to stop some are fought to the death. They are last seen walking into the northern ocean.
* Haruuc died under suspicious reasons and the chieftain that gained control of the nation immediately began expanding the borders. They're currently at war with Valenar and have stopped the elf nation from annexing anymore of the Talenta Plains, although Valenar does occupy half of them.
* Q'barra has joined the Lhazaar Principalities, although some did manage to find refuge from their former enemies of the Lizardfolk and have used magic to bring in gnome scholars to help study the regions ruins and dragonshards to build new and powerful weapons, both for the Q'barrans and themselves.

Hope there's some interesting ideas in there you can use

I like it, but do you think the goblinoids would be so quick to enter another protracted campaign against the vermin in Zilargo? The elven front would be much more likely. The screaming horde is a more worthy opponent than a bunch of wretched, backstabbing, greedy merchants.

Nope. That was a typo. I originally had them attack Zilargo, then rethought it and decided Valenar made more sense. I forgot to delete that mention of Zilargo ;)

Glad you like it.

some more:

* Jaela Daran (now 31 years old) leads the church of the Silver Flame in an holy crusade to/against [need to find a good goal here... maybe the Lords of Dust in the Shadow Marches].

* The Warforged in Thrane and Karrnath one day drop their tools and simply walk off. The people who try to stop some are fought to the death. They are last seen walking into the northern ocean.

If it happens on 1000YK it could be called the Y1K bug ;)
