| #1davethebrave371Sep 04, 2008 8:51:40 | So, the Expeditionary Dispatch from last issue being bumped forward to this one was a bit of a considering that FR gets at least one thing a month, and that means #366 was Eberronless. However, in addition to the new ED, we have two articles from KB: Backdrop: Graywall By Keith Baker Visit Graywall, a city of monsters from the Eberron campaign setting. Playing Gnolls By Keith Baker If you've always wanted to play a gnoll PC, now's your chance. This article comes with plenty of information on gnoll adventurers, along with racial feats for your gnoll hero. Now, Playing Gnolls is obviously not going to be Eberron-specific, but paired with the Graywall article, this will make for some awesome pre-4E release all-gnoll games! Who's with me? :D |
| #2AshlockSep 04, 2008 11:33:34 | Who hasn't wanted to play a gnoll? ![]() |
| #3NivedSep 04, 2008 18:10:47 | I have, with a pet hyena named giggles.... okay that last part was a lie. Or was it? |
| #4HellcowSep 05, 2008 17:25:46 | Sad to say, the Graywall article has been shifted to #368 (which is too bad, because it is a good match with the gnoll article). Of courses, since I thought it wasn't going to come out until #369, it ends up in the middle. |
| #5prodigal_orcSep 05, 2008 17:50:05 | I love Gnolls :D So happy, can't wait for the article get released! And thus I hope the Barbarian has some good Con and Dex synergy EDIT: Just noticed the Barbarian has disappeared from this month's Dragon ToC ![]() |
| #6saint_matthewSep 08, 2008 12:46:19 | Sure why not. I mean i really enjoyed the Yeenoghu article is issue #364. It was really creepy. |
| #7el_shawnoSep 16, 2008 22:49:56 | Is buying a gnoll a flea collar considered to be a sign of respect or a grievous insult? |
| #8davethebrave371Sep 17, 2008 0:20:29 | Is buying a gnoll a flea collar considered to be a sign of respect or a grievous insult? Insult. Flea stir-fry is a delicacy. |
| #9el_shawnoSep 17, 2008 9:35:22 | Insult. Flea stir-fry is a delicacy. Kinda like bacon bits? |
| #10lonewolfSep 17, 2008 17:11:13 | well, I´ve got a gnoll in my game for some time now. Gotta love the Eberron Reincarnate table... ![]() |
| #11NivedSep 17, 2008 17:42:32 | Alright... so this month we'll get a gnoll racial write up, and when martial power comes out rangers will have a build that grants them pets (adventurer's vault confirms that and has magic items for companion animals)... So I WILL be able to make a Gnoll with a hyena named giggles. hehehehehehHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :evillaugh |
| #12davethebrave371Sep 17, 2008 17:55:40 | well, I´ve got a gnoll in my game for some time now. A character in our party who was evil and insane (don't think the standard Saturday Morning Cartoon Joker or Carnage crazy that most players who post on these boards tend to do...think more like Dexter), changed his ways authentically just before the party found out about all the evil stuff he did and turned him over to authorities, and the death sentence issued for his crimes broke his fragile "turn over a new leaf" and shattered him even further. That player made a new character and that character, unbeknownst to any of my players, was reincarnated as a gnoll (random roll) and has returned as a major villain. They eventually found out who he was and it blew their minds. |
| #13euangelionSep 19, 2008 9:12:01 | I would have rather had the Expeditionary Dispatches we were first told would be in this issue of Dragon. Instead we get "The Lost Village of Janus Gull." I like the overall concept, but... "Under a harvest moon, on a windswept bluff..." Which moon? The ritual is performed in the year 880 YK, yet there's a warforged resident of Janus Gull at the time of the ritual. Here's looking forward to Dragon #368. |
| #14goblin_prideSep 19, 2008 9:41:35 | So I WILL be able to make a Gnoll with a hyena named giggles. Don't make me drive over there. |
| #15HellcowSep 19, 2008 12:31:55 | I would have rather had the Expeditionary Dispatches we were first told would be in this issue of Dragon. I don't know if you're talking about Graywall, but if so, I'll note that it's not an Expeditionary Dispatch; it's a big feature piece. And it will be in the next issue, or so I'm told. The ritual is performed in the year 880 YK, yet there's a warforged resident of Janus Gull at the time of the ritual. Yes... that is a problem. |
| #16davethebrave371Sep 19, 2008 13:35:34 | Yes... that is a problem. My fix? A simple change so that he is a warforged who wandered into the planar disturbance sometime after, instead of on the historical day of, the ritual. So he's just one of many adventurers wandering unwittingly into town...and, like many of those adventurers, he died. |
| #17smugSep 19, 2008 13:43:05 | It's easy enough to fix. It's just a little annoying to have to fix it. Similarly on the moon/moons issue. It's a very trivial detail, but if we're only getting one dedicated Eberron piece, it would be nice to have all those details be as sharp as possible. But I suppose that's what happens when Hellcow goes gallivanting off to write about gnolls. :P |
| #18GiloSep 25, 2008 7:36:32 | I love Gnolls :D The Gnoll article is released and it got a section on Eberron too. |
| #19AlasSep 25, 2008 7:42:46 | The Pack Attack quality is new, isn't it? I like it-- makes the gnoll a front-line team player. And holy smokes-- Butcher's Lure must be my new favorite feat. Mimicry and at-will ghost sound? I'm forseeing a gnoll lounge-singer in Sharn who works with a changeling front man... (The Swift Bite feat should probably specify that it works with melee attacks, I imagine.) |
| #20GiloSep 25, 2008 7:58:37 | I'm thinking that maybe a weakened version of the "Claw Fighter" feat could be used for a Shifter PC too. |
