I know that nothing official has been stated so far, but is it just me or do the Eladrin seem like the elves of Aerenal and the Elves seem like the Elves of khorvaire (both Valenar and the basic elves who live there)? Thoughts?

Makes sense to me, and sets that part of the setting up for a nice, clean transition.

Thoughts?

I'd greatly prefer that the elves of Eberron remain elves, and the eladrin of Eberron remain eladrin.

They are already supposed to be decedents of the same root species. And 4e elves resemble the typical warrior/ranger style elves where the Aerenal elves resemble the typical wizard elves, and have a stronger than normal religious flair as well (at least in my opinion). I'd say that pretty much sums up the Eladrin to the T, minus the name, no?

I just noticed that the name Eladrin is already mentioned in the Eberron book. Specifically, Eladrin are mentioned as natives of the Fairy plane. It seems that Aerenal Elves should not be Eladrin, as there is already a mentioned place for Eladrin to exist...

Someone mentioned that we should make Eladrin beings from the Fey Realm. Elves are the ancestors that were stole by the giants from that plane and they adapted to Prime life.

I think you meant to say Eladrin are the being they stole from that realm, and when they adapted they became Elves... otherwise I don't think your statement makes very much sense.

I don't see any particular reason why the elves and eladrin of Eberron should become any more closely related than they already are.

I meant that the eladrin should be introduced as "new" to Eberron even though they are the elves ancestors/progenitor race. Eberron is about exploring as well as cold war plots IMO. Discovering new races or places is just part of the setting.

Nope. Eladrin must be insert as eladrin, somewhere in Eberron.

Eladrin have power at 1st-lvl that doesn't fit at all to the Aerenal history/mentality.

Elves are quite stereotyped, but Eberron have always used those thing with a twist, let's do that again... Just add very few culural/racial power to the elf of each culture...

The split fits FR really conveniently: Eladrin (Sun Elves, Moon Elves) vs. Elves (Wild Elves, Wood Elves). It unfortunately is a bit trickier in Eberron. We'll see what Keith Baker et. al. decide. I'm sure they've already made up their mind about it.

I still think they will do the two year jump.

I hope they let Keith Talk about his "Idea" or the work as they make it... Keep the Crunch of Eberron a secret?... OK... but don't keep us in the dark on the world... Give us Fluff even if its cryptic and limited or for that matter not even set in stone... GIVE US SOMETHING ALREADY!!!

I was debating about keeping my EB game going. The pcs are currently 9th level and it is a wonky gestalt/Savage species game where the PCs had souls of adventurers placed in the to make them better for some mysterious task.
The players like their characters and I figure I may just run another EB game to get them to some higher levels so they we can all understand 4e rules. Then we can try and run the other game. I will have to ignore the gestalt stuff except for storyline purposes and hope that the imp and minotaur can convert their characters. It might not be the best fit but I hope it can work out.

Until then If my players in the new game want to be an eladrin or tiefling I will have to come up with some idea. I actually had an idea of elves that made pacts with devils to save them from the giants. The pact transformed them into something other than elves and they would have to be bonded for thousands of years. They went to an island and used their magics to hide it from others. They would then wander Eberron offering wishes or "help" to tohers that needed it. I called them the Bargainers. In the year 980 they were released from their pact. I was going to use this for my 3.5 cmapaign before I knew about the 4E stuff. I may use it anyway If I continue with Eberron.
