#1 audioslave Oct 21, 2008 18:53:21	So I'm a little new to the Eberron stuff, but I've been doing a lot of reading lately. So I read quite a bit about the Elf/Dragon wars involving the Elves of Aerenal and the Dragons of Argonnessen. So, one of the books said that some of the dispute was on the basis of Necromancy and its use and unnatural ways and whatnot. Correct? So I guess my question is more along the lines of: In the event that some PC's got into a situation where they were hunting down a piece draconic lore, and it just so happened that the Elves of Aerenal had it. Is there something that they would ask for in trade for the item in question? Worse case scenario, what would the elves ask for if they knew that the PC's where unknowingly working for a dragon of Argonnessen? Thanks.
#2 rekko Oct 22, 2008 8:39:34	The reasons for the Elf/Dragon wars haven't been written in any book. However, many clues and theories have been written, but there's no official answer. That is to the DM to decide. If you want to go a conflict over Necromancy, go for it. You also have to note that it was never the united force of the dragons of Argonnessen that fought the Aereni, which made them stand a chance against the mighty creatures of that land. If your PCs are involved with Dragons, knowingly or unknowingly, maybe the Aereni won't trade them the item. Maybe they'll give it to them and fallow them/scry them to know what the dragons want. As for the item itself, it could be a reproduction of a land dragonmark found on the bark of a dying tree. The goal of the dragons could be to either send the PCs there to accomplish some part in the Prophecy or to know where the tree is to prevent some other individual to access the area. Maybe the Dragons read of prophecy that says "When the Craftsmen come to the dying forest, silver fires will turn oil black" Which could mean that when House Cannith makes a deal with the Aereni to lumber their wood around the dragonmarked dead tree, the rajah will awaken in Flamekeep. Or it could mean that when a Cannith heir touches the dead tree, the Keeper of the Flame will turn to the dark side. etc. Maybe the dragons read another Prophecy that says "When Greed has taken Innocence, the broken blade will be repaired" Which could mean when the Voice of the Flame takes over the Keeper of the Flame, who is a child, the adventuring party that broke apart will come together again. Or a long destroyed artifact will be reforged (as in LotR). And since the Dragons would want to see reunited the party or make that sword reforge, they have to make the Keeper turn to the Dark side by allowing House Cannith to contract a deal with Aereni to lumber a certain region of their forests. Sending PCs to the Aerenal to get that reproduction of the dragonmarked on the dead tree is only a way to figure out where it is. Or, if one of the PCs is a Cannith heir, maybe he'll go and touch the tree himself which will make the rajah grow stronger. So much possibilities. Rekko
