| #1DargurdSep 28, 2008 1:37:40 | Hi All, Im going blind looking at old issues of Dungeon etc - can anyone recommend any 3.5 scenarios that used the Emerald Claw at all ? Im going to be using them in my new 4ed campaign so the stat blocks etc aren't an issue but id like to see how others have used them. Regards... PS if there are any Non Dungeon sources of Emerald Claw adventures please point me in the direction of those too if you are able. |

They are there for whenever you need a generic bad guy organization. I quite like that concept and I can see that fitting perfectly into the campaign im working on at the moment - thanks ! |
| #6skrap-sanSep 29, 2008 14:09:49 | Always glad to be of some use. And yeah, whenever I need someone to generally be up too no good and be in the way I turn too old trusty Emerald claw ![]() |
| #7DargurdJan 09, 2009 0:33:01 | Now my campaign is about to start im returning to a couple of old posts. How open would the Emerald Claw operations be in a remote part of Karnnath e.g. far east of the country ? Anyone any suggestions for having them involved but still at arms length for a couple of adventures ? |
| #8skrapsanJan 09, 2009 1:24:11 | Well I always pictured the Emerald claw as being an out for the stereotypical hillbilly (is that a mean word?). Their support from the locals would grow gradually the further away you came from the metropolises. So in my campaign they wouldn't need to hide that much in the farmlands, because most people just turns a blind eye. This is after all the people who saved them during the war, of course they are good guys... |
| #9OgiwanJan 15, 2009 11:15:48 | There's a motivational poster re: Emerald Claw:![]() They are increadibly fun, though, and so very Nazilike. I've come to making Emerald Claw elite troops have Sig runes on their collar...like the SS. Grasp of the Emerald Claw is very EC heavy, as is Shadows of the Last War. My favorite in that series, though, has to be Whispers of the Vampire's Blade. Hell, it's my favorite story arc ever. Eye of the Lich Queen is pretty EC-heavy, though. Regardless, the EC is full of win. You have any ideas, or are you just looking for mods? |
| #10DargurdJan 15, 2009 13:07:49 | You have any ideas, or are you just looking for mods? Well im planning on taking the base ideas from various sources around their connection with Lake Dark and something that is "trapped" , " hidden" or whatever at the bottom of it. I see them almost being seen by some of the locals as hero's from the last war. This is a part of Karrnath so far away from the capital that the fact the Claw are now an outlawed organisation in some peoples eyes will be irellevant. I kind of like the idea of there operation being almost covert at the start of the campaing but as they get a stronger base/foothold in the region they become more bold in their activities. Any ideas around this are greatfully appreciated ! |
| #11OgiwanJan 17, 2009 11:29:25 | That's quite feasible. I mean, some militia movements are accepted and supported by the locals because "the gubment" or whatnot "doesn't care for them". Combine this sort of sentiment with the early-war depiction of the Emerald Claw as a shining bastion of Karrnathi nationalism, and you'll have some strong sentiments. Oh, and they also follow the same religion that you do. Outside Karrnath, though, the Emerald Claw probably only finds support in Blood of Vol cells. In the rest of the Five Nations, they're a lot more covert; in Xen'Drik, though, they don't even bother. Concerning Lake Dark, I believe someone else on the board mentioned a plot by Vol to control a bound daelkyr or Raksasha Raja beneath Lake Dark. You could run with that. I'm more of a fan of the "pervasive evil" school of thought towards the Lords of Dust, so my contribution was, "and that knowledge was planted in the BoV/EC by the LORDS OF DUST! MWA HA HA!" |
| #12GiloJan 18, 2009 21:56:22 | Maybe the Emerald Claw discovered one of Mordain's abonded laboratories. The laboratory is surrounded by a force field on the bottom of Lake Dark. In this laboratory Mordain held a daelkyr or maybe an illithid elder brain prisoner and used him for his flesh altering experiments. |
| #13robert4818Jan 28, 2009 19:49:34 | My current adventure has the party running and potentiall interacting with a mass amount of organizations. A syberis shard attuned to the mark of Death is stolen from Arenal on behalf of an acedemic at the Arcane college (unknowingly prompted by the Blood of Vol). The elves send out a Deathguard to retrieve it. The PC's are hired to escort the guy back to the arcane college when things go (predictably) wrong. Now the PC's have the shard, and a number of places to turn as multiple people are now aware of this shard and its connection to death/undead: -Blood of Vol / Emerald Claw -Karrnath -Arrenal -House Cannith -Arcane College -The Twelve |
