| #2JohnLynchJun 29, 2009 21:40:19 | Given its on the page with Cyre information, I'm going to go Cyre ;) |
| #3RedRiderJun 30, 2009 1:34:02 | If it's the one with an arena in the foreground and five or so enormous rocky columns, then it's probably Metrol, the ruined capital city of Cyre. (The columns resemble the map in Five Nations.) |
| #4bobiagoJun 30, 2009 8:11:39 | I thought it might be Metrol as well, but I don't remember any source information that talked about castles built on craggy buttes. Or was that a Mourning effect? |
| #5al3x_bJun 30, 2009 8:23:31 | Nah, Metrol was always like that. In the original map those spots where plateaus, apparently the plateaus where a bit higher than anticipated. |
| #6ieattrollsforbreakfastJun 30, 2009 12:38:10 | It's definitely Metrol, the details in the picture match up to all the landmarks given on the map in Five Nations. You've got the arena in the middle foreground, the Cathedral slightly to the left of that, and the Lightning Rail station glowing blue behind that. |

That's the way I'll play it, at least. ;) I prefer to keep towers/spires of staggering height in Sharn where they belong. If it were ever intended that they be this tall, I think we'd have received an explanation in Five Nations as to there origin and/or construction. Who knows, maybe the ECG addresses it, but I doubt it. I really think the artist just got a little overly dramatic. Other than the excessive height of those spires, though, this picture is very nice. |
| #8bobiagoJul 05, 2009 21:03:45 | Agreed, the picture is stunning. They definitely like coming out with evocative images< and I applaud them for it. I like noticing when they get a bit repetitive with certain common themes though. Impossibly gigantic carved images: We were treated to a perspective-shattering carving of a dwarf in the ECG (where it was a bit excessive for the application), but then they reused the concept for the Seren/Argonnessen Dragon Head carvings, where they were perhaps a better fit. Really, really incredibly tall mountains: Put one in Sarlona (this is the tallest mountain in all of Eberron, and it's really important). But then, Argonnessen should have a gigantic mountain for all of those dragons to fly around, right? But we already jammed the biggest one on Sarlona. Well, the one in Argonnessen is really friggin huge too. Tall towers/floating towers/towers built on impossibly weird plateaus (Sharn/Arcanix/Metrol). Don't get me wrong, keep the cool images coming, but one has to edit a bit downwards so that there is a standard for normal. That is, not every place has to be the coolest place in Eberron. |
