| #1HellcowOct 30, 2011 15:02:16 | Hey everyone! What subjects would you like to see covered by Eye on Eberron in 2012? |
| #2Plaguescarred1Oct 30, 2011 15:21:50 | Hello Keith. I'd like to see an Eye made on the infamous Dreadhold. And something on the Emerald Claw too. Keep up on the good job sir. Really like EoE ! |
| #3HellcowOct 30, 2011 15:29:47 | I'd like to see an Eye made on the infamous Dreadhold. Have you read the Dreadhold article in Dragon 344? (PDF available at the link) It's written for 3.5, but it's 3-4 times the size of an Eye on Eberron article, with more crunchy elements. |
| #4Plaguescarred1Oct 30, 2011 15:43:57 | Yes i have read it. It was a great article detailing Dreadhold like never before. But not everyone have access to this older Dragon Magazine, at least around the recent Edition. PS you probably meant 3.5 right ? |
| #5HellcowOct 30, 2011 15:46:45 | PS you probably meant 3.5 right ? Indeed. |
| #6CorrinAvatanOct 30, 2011 18:07:40 | Hellcow, I'd like to see a few detailed looks into the following: Lycanthropes in Eberron: Be nice to have an article that specifically deals with the Lycanthropic Purge and how that affects the political situation between Droaam and Thrane. Might be nice to throw out some shout-outs to the the Pack Outcast theme. The "combat-weak" Houses: I rarely see people take the Mark of Handling or the Mark of Hospitality in my games. I'd like to see how these houses, who are not nessicarily known for combat prowess or scheming can be totally bad-ass and take names. Essentially, I'd like to see an article that give a Ghorad'din-like branch to the houses that kind of get the shaft of "oh, they're not going to be trouble..." Zilargo Gnomes: I'd love to see something about the Trust, and how to involve them in campaigns, and advice on how to make sure gnomes are seen as conniving bastards instead of little fey wimps. |
| #7DoctorBadWolfOct 30, 2011 19:45:03 | Replace conniving bastards with badasses and I'm with the above request concerning gnomes. ![]() Coverage of some of the lesser known races and their place in Eberron would be cool. Some Eberron themes? Is that a possibility? |
| #8focusgentsOct 31, 2011 9:40:36 | Themes would definitely be nice. Here's my wishlist: Ring of Storms: I never played the Stormreach MMORPG, but I would love to see some ancient vamps and crazy artifacts, maybe also how a giant chunk of Siberys dragonshard would effect passers-by. Menechtarun: The massive desert seems like an ideal place for giant or drow artifacts, and I think there was a piece in DoE about a patrolling copper dragon. Valenar: Maybe a "month-in-the-life" of a raiding party, going from Mournland to Talentan tribes to Karrnathi forts (Fort Zombie was great, btw), showing how they approach challenges, how a party of PC's could interact with them (skill challenge to prevent massacre). Lord of Blades: While I know the LoB will never get revealed, the structure around him would be fun to explore. How does he organize regiments? Is he building something in the Mournland? What are some rumored goals of his work? Adar: Some kind of update for the anti-Riedran forces, their goals and interaction with Khorvaire. Here's to another year of Eberron! |
| #9arelaOct 31, 2011 13:38:33 | Any Eberron theme would be nice. My personal favourites are: Thaliost: History, current events, everyday life, tensions between Aundairian and Thrane citizens and so on. Any city of now destroyed Cyre (particularly interesting would be Eston or Metrol): A glimpse of this city's former greatness, main points of it's history. The city's current state and what can be found in it's ruins are also interesting themes. I'd like to see some details of Cyran culture and history, useful in campaigns, that take place during the Last War or even before it. Something that Cyran characters could remember, miss or be proud of. |
| #10DoctorBadWolfOct 31, 2011 17:32:44 | I'd definately love to see some Cyran culture/society details. And more Adar! I think the rebel elements on that continent merit a regional source book, like Neverwinter in FR. Barring that, though, I wants me some new articles! |
| #11sallaOct 31, 2011 17:34:48 | More Shifter, Warforged, and Artificer love. |
| #12hertaybrOct 31, 2011 18:35:56 | There are some thing that I think must be more explored: Nations: - Zilargo (I never saw articles about it) - Mror Holds Organizations: - Blood of Vol - Aurum And perhaps you could creat a new organization of vilains.... It would be cool new interesting things on scenario. Just an observation. Congratulations for the way you introduced Eladrin on Eberron. You could have do the introduction of dragonborns and tiefling too.. |
| #13skeptical_clownOct 31, 2011 23:23:50 | Stuff I'd like to see: Information on Tieflings and the Demon Wastes More detail on the planes, particularly how the Nine Hells fit into Eberron, now that they're part of it. Also some information on Dolurrh, and how to use Shadowfell materials in Eberron More stuff on Darguun, particularly the Dhakaani Blood of Vol and offshoot (Like Cult of Life) information. Particularly since the Blood of Vol seems presented differently in different sources. Eberron Themes More Changeling stuff is always good Spotlight on a Feyspire (Other than Taer Lian Doresh) The feathered Yuan-ti living in the desert... can't remember their names now. Maybe Spotlights on particular monster tribes of Droaam... particularly more unusual ones like Medusas or Harpies. |
| #14oprah_windfuryOct 31, 2011 23:31:57 | Eberron themes. Dragonmarked Heir, Dark Lantern, Knight Phantom, Inspired Pawn, Cyran Avenger etc. Also, bring back Half-Daelkyr. Make it happen, Mr Baker. |
| #15oksharkNov 01, 2011 0:31:41 |
|
| #16shydmNov 01, 2011 2:38:53 | First, things other people have said that I like:
I like these. I understand how Thaliost is important, but I just don't have a very good understanding of what being there is actually like. Plus, I'm always happy to hear more about Cyre. More Shifter, Warforged, and Artificer love. Always good. ;) Eberron themes. Dragonmarked Heir, Dark Lantern, Knight Phantom, Inspired Pawn, Cyran Avenger etc. It would be awesome to see some old prestige classes rendered as themes, although I think the Eye On articles are mostly fluff, right? Zilargo Gnomes: I'd love to see something about the Trust, and how to involve them in campaigns, and advice on how to make sure gnomes are seen as conniving bastards instead of little fey wimps. I would really like advice on the Trust. I know they're supposed to be master schemers, but I'm not smart enough to make them seem smart. As it stands now I avoid mentioning them. "Oh, the gnomes of Zilargo? You wouldn't want to know what they're up to, it's... very technical and dry... omg, look there, an experimental warforged!"Personally, I'd love to see more on potential allies or enemies. A particular Lord of Dust or dragon, or maybe an individual cell of House Tarkanan. Someone who can be dropped in, and ways they might interact with the party. |
| #17DigitalMageNov 01, 2011 4:51:10 | Have you read the Dreadhold article in Dragon 344? (PDF available at the link) It's written for 3.5, but it's 3-4 times the size of an Eye on Eberron article, with more crunchy elements. Thanks for that link, I never knew about that article, the PDF is in my cart to buy now! Is there a list of all Eberron Articles in the Paizo Dungeons and Dragons magazines? |
| #18OsgoodNov 01, 2011 7:54:13 | I love that you're asking the fans what we want Keith!
|
| #19Nibelung_ajrNov 01, 2011 23:00:25 |
|
| #20kareNov 02, 2011 5:35:41 | Most notably, those elements of Eberron which didn't get their own 3.5 edition fluff books or articles: The 'outer nations' of Khorvaire, and Aerenal (if they did and I missed it, can someone shoot me a link). +1 Zilargo and Mror Holds. Again, give me some characters and locations I can use. Include the Trust, or give me a separate article just on them. +1 Newspapers, some details about what they do and who they PO, and ideally a few characters. Intrepid reporter, loud editor, suspicious proprieter etc. +1 Aerenal – needs detail on some choice areas, particular patrons/villians that can be used either on that continent or from afar on Khorvaire. Additionally, what does a regular NPC look like on Aerenal, and what's their daily life. +1 Introduction and increased background for Tieflings – ditto usability +1 to the article about a particular archaeological dig site, with info on possible artifacts, factions, and political ramifications. And for myself: The Church of the Silver Flame, particularly relating to the Lycanthropic Purge and Eldeen Reaches – but through the frame of a villain and/or location that I can actually use. NB: I don't think Themes are a good fit for a Eye on Eberron article, and anyway there have been some good ideas how to fit existing themes into Eberrorn (though I'd like to see them compiled eventually, particularly the inquisitive). Yours, JMH |
| #21HellcowNov 02, 2011 10:10:45 | Thanks for all the requests - we've got the list set now. I wish Eberron themes were an option, but EoE is really a lore column; themes will have to come in a standalone article (and I hope that they will!). |
| #22kopakanuvaNov 02, 2011 19:26:50 | If it's not to late to give a request, I would like to see more about that Lyrandar resort island in the Lahzaar Principalities that was used for weapons testing during the Last War. Don't have my books at the moment, but it was something like Stormhold or Stormfast. |
| #23morgrumNov 03, 2011 8:13:14 | If it's not to late to give a request, I would like to see more about that Lyrandar resort island in the Lahzaar Principalities that was used for weapons testing during the Last War. Don't have my books at the moment, but it was something like Stormhold or Stormfast. Are you thinking of Stormhome? IIRC that's off the North coast of Aundair and apart from being a popular resort it's also the location of the HQ of Lyrandar. I don't know anything about weapons testing, but Lyrandar do use their mark powers to ensure a comfortable climate. |
| #24wulfgarsNov 04, 2011 9:20:23 | Xen´drik material , please!! |
| #25Lugnut171Nov 06, 2011 18:20:17 | I was trying to think of something that didn't have a lot of information on it already. (A lot of the suggestions are good just that some of them have been covered in other books) I'm thinking some information about the Aurum (might of spelled it wrong) or the Swords of Liberty. Also Five Nations had these side bars Five things every citizen knows from each of the five nations, I would like something like that for some of the other countries, and organizations. |
| #26OgiwanNov 07, 2011 7:55:02 | If I didn't get caught in that bloody nor'easter, I'da been on this like white on rice..... The thing I'd like the best is more information on Cyre. In all the books, in all the lore, Cyre is the height of culture, and the "Purple Jewel" in the crown of Khorvaire. But, I just don't feel that, because my perspective of Cyre is always from after the Mourning. So, an article on Cyrean culture, achievements, and stuff from before the Mourning would be invaluble. |
| #27TalaeNov 07, 2011 21:37:23 | If I didn't get caught in that bloody nor'easter, I'da been on this like white on rice..... This. THIS! Cyre backstory would be great. This gets my number one vote. As for other ideas:
|
| #28SiberysNov 08, 2011 12:02:09 | Pre-Mourning Cyre Zilargo Mror Holds Lhazaar Principalities Talenta Plains Droaam The Shadow Marches The Eldeen Reaches The Demon Wastes Oceanic Nations (I seem to recall there were some originally slated for inclusion in the 3.5 ECS that were dropped...) Sahuagin of Eberron Kenku of Eberron A 'New' Organization Planes Conversions for new races - Vyrloka, Shardmind, Wilden, et cetera EDIT: Oooh! 'Mysteries, Murders and Intrigues' - bunches and bunches of plot seeds, or a few examined in a bit more detail. |
| #29HellcowNov 10, 2011 15:03:12 | I'm afraid you missed the deadline, Siberys... but I'm glad to say that at least a few of your requests are on the list! There's a lot of good ideas that didn't make it, so hopefully I can find another format for getting them out. |
| #30rpg.kyleNov 11, 2011 12:33:12 | Hey Keith, I wish I had found this before the deadline passed, but here are the things I wonder about, in order of interest: Dal Quor as a place one might visit, more/various/different dream monsters, non-evil residents of Dal Quor, what life is like there - is it an echo of our own or something entirely foreign? do they have shops, buildings, and economy, medics, etc. or would all of these concepts of daily life on Eberron be foreign to the point of overwhelming lack of understanding to a newly-inspired character (or newly manifested agent of the evil Quori)? The WF moving citadel thing, warforged life there, what day-to-day worship of the Lord of Blades entails, what they think about that, and how they feel about leaving humanoid civilization to join the LoB crusade only to (presumably) take orders there and fight for him when commanded. Why do they stay if there are commands coming down? If no commands, does the leadership see a military need to take an objective and ask for volunteers? Lacking any, do they simply not act? The planar cosmology of Eberron, planar travel, interesting planar ports of call with very different feels when compared to the cities and towns of Eberron. The goblin civilization of the past - maps, cities, daily life, their wars, etc. Flamekeep, the Silver Flame as a continent(globe?)-spanning organization, and Flamer/lycanthrope/shifter interaction both in history and in modern Khorvaire. The Demon Wastes, what's going on there now, is it a manifest zone for Shavarath, are there active Lords of Dust there, an official back story for Bladeling characters, etc. Breland's interesting features OTHER than Sharn and the floating citadels. Aundair and why I should care. It always read to me as a somewhat boring forested land that seemed in need of fairy tales or something to spice it up. Shavarath and what the Blood War is like in the Eberron (system? universe?) both in the past and currently. I would really, really like to see an index of all the Eberron articles from 3.5, 4e, and your blogs - with links. |
| #31HellcowNov 11, 2011 18:40:50 | Shavarath, Construct, and Aundair were all on my short list, but didn't make it this time around. I think we've got a good list, though. |
| #32kareNov 14, 2011 6:46:53 | Hey, The old 'Five Nations' book has some good stuff for DMs on the Five Nations, including some nice ideas for Aundair (there's some material on the pre-Mourning Cyre, and some on the Mournland, though these two share roughly the space of the other four nations). The mechanics are all out of date, of course, but with the Character Builder and the Monster Builder its quite easy to create an appropriate level opponent, with power of the same 'theme' as a particular villian, patron or other NPC you wish to use. I'd steer away from using the old 'paragon classes' though, unless you use them to refluff an existing theme or paragon path. It's out of print of course, but copies can still be had via Amazon or ebay - quite cheaply if you're willing to wait for one to be auctioned, more expensively if you buy from an out-of-print books reseller. I'd advise reviewing a copy before you buy, if its possible to borrow one, as it may not meet your needs. JMH |
| #33Chiba_MonkeyNov 18, 2011 0:10:39 | Just want to chime in on the hope for some Eberron-specific themes. In retrospect, I think themes would have been the way to go with dragonmarks in the first place, but, alas, they did not come along untilna year later. ![]() |
| #34kopakanuvaNov 22, 2011 12:34:05 | Well, no point crying over spilled milk... We already have Dragonmark feats, although themes might represent more powerful verions of the marks, like lesser and greater. I think Eberron themes should be old 3.5 prestige classes, like Master Inquisitive, Dragonmarked Scion, Extreme Explorer, etc, etc. |
| #35OgiwanNov 23, 2011 15:40:39 | I think Eberron themes should be old 3.5 prestige classes, like Master Inquisitive, Dragonmarked Scion, Extreme Explorer, etc, etc. OMG THUNDER GUIDE! I <3 Thunder Guides..... |
| #36AvonRekaesNov 23, 2011 22:20:42 | I know I missed the deadline to suggest stuff, and that Themes weren't on the menu anyway... But yeah. Eberron needs some Theme loving. If we can get things so specific as "Seeker of Illefarn" or something for FR, I don't see any reason why I have to settle for a generic "Noble" theme to represent a Dragonmarked Heir. Keith, any chance of you pitching a theme article outside of Eye on Eberron? |
| #37Lugnut171Nov 26, 2011 9:12:35 | I'm betting we are going to get some themes for Eberron next year in Dragon. The first pitch period has come up, and they have been telling people if you want it pitch it. Guessing someone has taken that to heart. |
| #38ront_iron-roarDec 25, 2011 0:54:36 | I know I'm very late. But, I just want to throw in my two cents. I'm also very happy to see that your still very active Keith! -Radiant Cults in Sharn. -More info on the Criminal elements in Sharn. -The Burning Ring -The Race of Eight Winds I have the old Sharn: City of Towers book. But, I would love to see how some of these things may have changed in 4th. |
| #39mylonJan 16, 2012 15:40:00 | I definitely want to see more Eberron NPCs to work with. I have a tough time thinking up names, but having pre-done NPCs with their goals and motivations could help liven up the world besides just a bunch of organizations and their leaders. How about some of their influential administrators and some of the departmental squabbles that exist between them, and most important how that may overflow into the city they're in and possibly have political effects as well! |
| #40Style75Jan 28, 2012 20:17:22 | It makes me so happy to know that Keith is planning for a FULL YEAR of Eye on Eberron. Thank you sir, your world is our playground and we appreciate your hard work and dedication to making it the best setting in D&D. |
| #41charlemegneFeb 19, 2012 11:56:43 | I know it's to late to post requests but, out of curosity will you do an EoE for 2013 ? |
