I was looking back at the juggernaut Prestige class in the ECS. When I was looking at the exemple character, it struck me, male personality. For me, warforged have a default male personnality and I simply cannot imagine a female one.

So i was wondering, what a warforged would look like with a female personnality and if some of you as one in your game.

Thats just it, by default, the warforged do not actually have a male or female personalty. They find such things fairly odd, to say the least. They have a personality in general, and it is other people (us fleshies) that project our own gender stereotypes onto them.

A single warforged could be "male" in some situations, and "female" in others, based purely on how it reacts to the situation and how others perceive those reactions.

Edy is right. The Male and Female personality types are mostly there to help you RP the thing either as a DM or a PC.

The Dreaming Dark novel trilogy actually has two characters I'd consider "female personality warforged". But as skrap-san suggest, it's not something that's supposed to affect appearance in any way; it's a matter of "When a human deals with this warforged, will they find its behavior more masculine or feminine?" In dealing with a typical adamatine body warforged fighter, a human may look at the stoic combatant and think of him as male. Meanwhile, a mithral scout designed for urban espionage (with skills like Gather Information, Sense Motive, and Tumble) might move with more grace and show more empathy in its dealings with others, and be seen by a human as more "feminine". However, at the end of the day, both are genderless warforged; it's just a psychological, roleplaying hook.

It seems like the only game-mechanical utility it has is for things like Disguise checks -- a Warforged with a "male personality" is one who, if he puts on a hat of disguise, will have an easier time aping the role of a male human than a female human (i.e. won't receive a -2 "different gender" penalty).

Perhaps. Alternately, you could make the case that since physically the warforged are "genderless", a warforged will ALWAYS suffer a -2 penalty when attempted to disguise itself as a member of a gendered race.

Wait, two?
Obviously Indigo is one of them (although you should have put in a few more references to her looking the same as other warforged), but who was the other one? Unless you mean

The book is clear: the Warforged choose a male or female personality to fit a little bit in the society.

Is not bizarre or strange, they only want to be accepted.

Don't forget that they are sencient ones. The have free will to chose their destiny after The War, so, a female personality Warforged is not strange...

I ll try to present it to my warforged player and/or get the idea for a future NPC to make it more original.

Personally, in my Eberron game i say there can be Male or Female warforged... and that they do display some "gender' physically... they are still Genderless as they don't have any genitals... but a female warforged looks more feminine...

And when my players ask me "why" i say... "when House Cannith made the first warforged, much about them weren't intended features... "gender" was just one of those things that seemed to be random and constant with all warforged no matter how they tried to correct it"

Ok, I just thought of this.

I realize that the Warforged were originally created to fight in the Last War, so being "genderless" makes some sense.

But weren't there also many Warforged being created for other purposes too? Secretly or otherwise? Seems logical to me that those who are experimenting with creating Warforged, Psiforged etc., might also create feminine bodied Warforged.

Also, a simple pair of articulating eyebrows would do wonders for a Warforged's facial expressiveness. Nothing fancy, just think of how much it adds to ventriliquist dummies when their eyebrows move.

That's it! I want my Warforged with boobies and eyebrows! :D

Think of it this way.
Warforged were weapons of war. They were built to fight, whatever the specifics of how they were to fight aside, they were built to be troops. Think about a piece of real world military hardware.

Show me where they made a sherman tank for going to get your groceries in. Or the land mine for gardening with.

Warforged were very expensive weapons. Like a fighter jet or tank. While they don't necessarily serve in those roles now, thats what they were built to do.

Wouldn't that make the default Warforged female? (Male) soldiers always seem to refer to their gun/tank/bird as "female".

Not ALL of them were created for war. MOST, but not all. And not ALL of those built for war were built as tanks. Some had other roles.

Huh? The military actually HAS vehicles that are suited to grocery shopping. Not exactly feminine, but not a tank either.

Look, my post was meant to be light-hearted but there are reasonable reasons to have a FEW female-bodied Warforged. The problem is that the main reason NOT to carries far more weight IMO.

So while I can see it, I wouldn't ever really do it unless I had a female player who insisted. Then I would work it in. She'd be a freak of course, but I would.

That's just it, they ALL were. The ones who became artificers, wizards, clerics, or anything else are those who went against what they were built to do. They might have been used, but they probably would have been seen as mistakes.

As has been said, Warforged are trying to fit in. They adopt genders, and tend to not have any racial prejudices so that they can try to connect with as many people as possible. If a Warforged fits a stereotype of a woman more than a man, and it's trying to fit in, it knows it will fit in better with females, and will refer to itself as female. It could call itself male, but it probably wouldn't see a point since it isn't trying to fit in with males. On the other hand, it could just consider itself genderless.

Yes, every last Warforged (aside from those built after the end of the war, which means either you're a servant of the LoB, or you were designed to specifically look like you were built during the war to avoid suspicion) was built for war. There was no civilian model, there were no hookerbots, or butler/maid model Warforged.
Huh? The military actually HAS vehicles that are suited to grocery shopping. Not exactly feminine, but not a tank either.

Exactly, hence not all Warforged are Fighters with Adamantine Body, there are lighter, faster, sleeker models. But the point is that they were all built as replacements for humanoid soldiers. The lighter models were built to replace lighter troops. While the Warforged have since found roles as servants and workers, that isn't what they were designed for.
Look, my post was meant to be light-hearted but there are reasonable reasons to have a FEW female-bodied Warforged.

Well, other than the fact that House Cannith is specifically said to not have had that level of control over the Warforged design and construction process. They were using mysterious eldritch machines copied from unknown schemas that were millenia old. They tweak one thing, and a dozen other things change beyond their control. I seriously do not believe that House Cannith could have made a soft, feminine shaped warforged if they had tried.
So while I can see it, I wouldn't ever really do it unless I had a female player who insisted. Then I would work it in. She'd be a freak of course, but I would.

If you just have to have one, its better, IMO, to play up the angle that warforged are capable of growth over time, and that they tend to change their form based on their personality and function.

Remember, Warforged were mass produced. They didn't have some artificer picking individual features for each and every one made, they set it to "Mithril Armor" and ran off a couple hundred troops, all of which would have looked absolutely identical. But, we know that Warforged can grow spikes (via WF Juggernaught), we know they can thicken their armor (Improved DR), that they can grow massive biting jaws (with whatever the feat from RoE was that granted a Bite attack), or even transform their bodies into draconic shapes (via Dragon Disciple).

So, given all of that, and the fact that there are Warforged out there with fairly unique appearances point towards them being able to modify themselves, either intentionally or subconciously, to reflect their new roles in life. IMO, spending years slowly decreasing waist size, slightly enlarging hips, and rounding off a few corners is not out of the question. You still wouldn't look like a woman, but you wouldn't be the top heavy hulk like other WF are either.

Its not that there can't be any, its just that, IMO, there would never have been anything even remotely close to a female form Warforged ever built. Some of them could have become that way later on, however.

I was under the impression that the more advanced classes emerged from later in the war, as Cannith techniques advanced. That is why the random age table is opposed to the traditional table

Actually, relooking at it, yes. Although even this seems rare as they were literally at the end of the war just starting to be made (one of the Warforged in an adventure in Dungeon, one was experimental, and was first being deployed on the Day of Mourning).

Altho this is generally true for the vast majority of WF, I just cant believe that wealthy individuals from various nations and organizations didn't have personal WF made as servants/bodygaurds/companions/etc.
In fact, its reasonable to say that Cannith did a lot of experimenting with the WF, just look at the WF scouts and WF chargers...so you could have lots of different kinds. Pick a template and run with it: aquatic, multi-limbed, winged, etc. All of these could be justified with a little backstory...why not a female 'forged?
Practical? Not really. But people with metric buttloads of money rarely are when it comes to funding their whims...
However, at the same time, I also really like this idea...
If you just have to have one, its better, IMO, to play up the angle that warforged are capable of growth over time, and that they tend to change their form based on their personality and function.
