Fishing for Siberys Dragonshards: Casting Nets for Corellon

This thread's topic is twofold. I'm trying to figure out an efficient and safe way to harvest siberys dragonshards AND find a way to "return" Corellon to the elves of Eberron.

A bit of background info. In the game I am currently in (Ravenloft->Planescape->Spelljammer), my elemental airship [fire] was upgraded and modified into a spelljamming vehicle using another elemental [air] bound to "alien" tech. Don't worry, the ring binding the fire elemental is enclosed in a retractable forcefield, thus preventing it from consuming the air supply within the air bubble.

The moment the DM had his space elf NPCs install their tech unto my ship, I've been listing many things I'd like to do to earn profit, edging out the competition of the other Houses in Khorvaire. Now, we are all currently in Caen (Iron Kingdoms) to bring Corellon back to the elves inhabiting there. This is a divine quest given to us via our elven ranger (Faerun) to restore Corellon's worship in the worlds cut off from deities (incl Eberron). My half-elf bard/skycaptain is still digesting the fact that gods actually exist, so she convinced the party to go to Caen first.

When I return to Eberron, how should I go about harvesting the dragonshards? Now, this isn't your typical foray into dangeorus and exotic lands to get the shards that fell from the sky. Rather, I'm talking about actually going up to the Ring of Siberys. Do I simply use nets to scoop them up? Or do I have people leave the ship to fetch the shards? Is the Ring of Siberys a planetary ring (like Saturn's) with its own orbital movements and "currents"? Do the moon's orbit disturb the Ring? Could this be why there are frequent Siberys showers on Eberron?

As for Corellon, how would YOU go about introducing this "interloper" to the elves of Eberron? Could he be an ancient, pre-slavery deity who was forgotten with the passing of ages? Was he ever mentioned in any of the Eberron books? I face a dilemma in that Eberron already has a strong religious presence, whereas Caenite elves just forgot they had a deity. I am stuck.

In the ECS there is no mention of a strong religious preference amongst the eladrin and the elves are direct decendents of the eladrin. The eladrin have not been subject to generations of enslavement. I think their believes probably resemble that of the Wardens of the Woods: be respectful to the primal spirits around you, spirits an eladrin can join by become feylords. The spires also seem to focus on a particular type of spirits, with for example the ones in Karnath focusing on winter, in the Lazhaar Principalities on nightmares and the Eldeen Reaches on all things fey.

Then again, I always found the idea of eladrin worshipping gods somewhat conflicting with how I envision them.

Correllon wouldn't go over well.

I can't see Eladrin wanting to worship a god at all, other than some lip service to Aureon or other sovereign host dieties.
Elves would be like wtf mate?  See these here Undying... much cooler than your dang god. (Vales Tairn would be, my anscestors are all I need; Some city elves who worship the host might be willing to listen, but in the end will be all: "Isn't he just aspects of Aureon and maybe a little Olladra and Boldrei?")
Drow will say "Vulkoor is the only god worth worshipping, die interloper!"

The ECS states that the eladrin worship their ancestors like other elves do, but don't go into any detail on it.

I actually have an eladrin in my Eberron group who worships Corellon; to her, he isn't a deity so much as an extremely influential ancient ancestor who helped found most/all of the modern feyspires. While not literally a blooded connection he is figuratively the 'father of the eladrin people', and therefore subject to ancestor worship.

As superdeadsmurf mentioned: Corellon could be as an aspect of Aureon, maybe the elves worshiped him during their Xen'drik slavery days and later with the formation of the Undying Court they changed their approach to divinity and forsaken the Sovereigns.

I say you should take-off and nuke Shae Mordai from orbit. It's the only way to be sure the elves revert back to their Sovereign Host beliefs. Wink

I was thinking of having him come off as a forgotten ancestor as well, but the Aureon bit works too. I agree with the others that it will be extremely difficult in trying to convince the elves that Corellon is the deity to worship. I mean, centuries of religious beliefs just don't get discarded instantly. hmmm

Should I start out with my fellow Khoravar first? I could use House Lyrandar as a beach-head for a jihad .. I MEAN RELIGIOUS REFORMATION. My House will be more than thrilled when I bring them new tech and information about the planes. I even have a trade deal in the works with one of the guilds in Sigil.

Haha, and with the lazer cannon recently installed onto my ship, I CAN! haha ... seriously, an energy cannon was installed, diverting the fire elemental's power as fuel. If my luck holds, I can install magic missile cannons via Iron Kingdoms tech.

I would have your character go around spreading whatever myth works for that particular culture.

For the Eladrin and Aerenal, casting Corellon as an influential ancestor (Like the one that built the first Feyspire) to some, and then mapping him as Aureon with a dash of Balinor to others, you spread his myth.

Soon, people who have heard either myth will meet.

So... was it Aureon that built the Feyspires? That makes a certain amount of sense! But of course his Eladrin name is Corellon. (The pronounciation of Aureon is practically hidden in Corellon to. Just remove the C and the L's.)

As for the dragonist vassals, who believe the Sovereigns are ascended dragons, they know Aureon by the name of Ourelonastrix. (Hey, that name even has an L in the right place!). Posit to them that such a mighty dragon would find taking a planar jaunt to Thelanis a mere triffle. And remember back in Ourelonastrix's time, the dragons were still spreading magic. It wasn't until the Giants started abusing the gift that the prevailing opinion of Argonesen's society was to remain isolationist. So it's entirely possible that (C)Ourelonastrix taught the eladrins magic, which they used to build and protect the Feyspires.

With the Valenar, it might be difficult because they keep such good track of their ancestors so a half-elf walking up to them and telling them they missed the most important one of all will probably just get you attacked.

I like the Ourenlonastrix idea. Hell, he could have polymorphed into an eladrin or elf when he brought magic to the elves. Maybe even influenced Aeren somewhat as a figure hidden from history.

You have the right idea about starting the religion as a myth told through oration and such. I'll start with House Lyrandar and the Khoravar.
