#1 echelon_house Aug 08, 2011 10:10:09	An odd question that's been bugging me recently: has there ever been any published information on what the flags of the various nations of Khorvaire look like? Or their military uniforms? I haven't stumbled across anything like that, but it seems like a pretty big detail to overlook. If you want your players to meet a Karrnathi general, for instance, it would help to know what he looks like!

I would fething love that.....  You're right in that they don't spell it out.  But if you pay attention to the pictures, you see that the symbols used for the flags are actually drawn on individual characters in some of the artwork, which can give you an impression of what the soldiers looked like.  Assuming that each military expected their soldiers to wear their uniforms, you can pretty much infer what the general soldier of an army would look like (aside from the Warforged, whom I have no idea how they told each other apart).

Could probably even just paint their plating itself with enamel or something. Maybe each nation had it's own 'model' of Warforged too, I think I remember Pierce being recognized as a Cyran warforged in the novels pretty easily.
#6 Leekanh Aug 31, 2011 16:10:04	As far as official art goes, the flags are just the emplem of the kingdom on its dominant colors (it makes sense, considering that our modern flags are relatively recent). The only military uniforms that i found are just a tabard with the colors of the nation. On the other hand, the art is only for full-plated warrior ready for war, so the uniform for a more civilian context is unknown. Despite the art, i think is more plausible to give a tabard to the warforged used in war, telling them apart in the chaos of the battle would be impossible... EDIT: In Five Nations there is this artwork. There is a Karrnathi soldier on the background without the omnipresent fullplate. Granted, is an uniform of the Emerald Claw, but since they were Karrnathi soldier not too long ago, the uniform should be similar... Anyway, given the design, I'd say that they are similar to our XIX century uniform... If only for the rule of cool!

In order to fit in at the Tain Gala, one of my characters obtained a Brelish officer uniform. I described it similar to a 19th Century uniform for similar (rule of cool) reasons.

The books would actually tend to disagree on that.  I think it was in The Last War sourcebook that there was a blurb about how some battles were fought simply to "steal" the enemies' warforged, since they weren't taught to have any particular loyalty, only to follow orders. It is possible that individual warforged might be given uniform elements so that the non-warforged would know which battallion of warforged to destroy.
#9 Sturmvogel Sep 03, 2011 0:58:08	I don't understand how stealing enemy warforged means they couldn't have their own national variations of them. People have been taking and using enemy equipment in warfare throughout history. Slap a coat of paint on that tank and it's yours now
